Some of the project’s defining features include the Scotch-Brite stainless steel shell and the doors’ 45-degree beveled profile. This precise gesture enhances the kitchen’s rigorous yet reflective appearance.
The stainless steel extends in continuity around the volume, reinforcing a sense of solidity and coherence that resonates with the brutalist language developed by STUDIOBOOM for the gallery. The kitchen becomes an architectural element fully integrated into a broader context, made of concrete vaults, structural columns, and surfaces that preserve traces of the building’s previous life.
The renovation from STUDIOBOOM embraces these imperfections and layers of history, allowing the gallery’s new identity to emerge through a dialogue between memory, materiality, and contemporary design.
