We’ve always been fascinated by the knowledge behind rug weaving, by the inspiration that allows to create a piece of art.

Karpeta is a perfect blending of tradition and design for a new concept of carpet. Founded by Daniele Morabito and Simona Scollica, Karpeta introduces a brand new world of weaves, knots and prints embracing the original vision of the two founders: combining different cultures and worlds capable of turning each rug into a tale of tales, reinterpreting time and space. Handmade according to the ancient artisanal techniques, and yet created to reflect possible futuristic worlds, the creations by Karpeta combine India’s thousand year old weaving tradition with the innovative talent of a team of national and international designers, renovated every year, working alongside the brand’s creative team. This is where Antique Rose and Black begins: with a composition of shapes and neutral tones that leaves room for imagination.

Looking back to 2023.

Karpeta and Texturae came together with the dreamlike, feminine vision of Sara Ricciardi to create CAMERE, a collection that brings rugs and wallpapers together in a single, cohesive narrative.

A project born from the encounter between creativity and Italian craftsmanship, where material, colour and surface interact to shape new visions of contemporary living.

Karpeta was born in 2006 in Reggio Calabria, in the heart of Southern Italy, a territory shaped by the Mediterranean, history and culture, where the legacy of Magna Graecia meets a long tradition of exchange and craftsmanship.

It was here that Daniele Morabito chose to create Karpeta, with a clear vision: to build a valuable company without leaving its territory behind.

A choice to believe in the South, in its people, its skills and its potential to create something meaningful from here.

Today, Karpeta continues to grow from Reggio Calabria, bringing a project born in the far south of Italy to the international world of contemporary design.

At Karpeta, customisation begins with colour.

We offer an extensive range of wool and Tencel yarns, with a wide selection of shades already available in our production facilities. This allows us to offer a faster and more efficient production process, without compromising on the precision of the final result.

For projects requiring a specific or bespoke colour, we develop the shade directly in-house and create a series of yarn samples to share with the client. Each colour is carefully checked to ensure the right tone, depth and overall chromatic effect.

From the yarn to the final rug, every detail can be personalised: colour, size, design and materials.

Because a truly custom rug should be created around the project — not adapted to it.

24 metres of custom-made design.

For the event by Fashion Designer Alessandro Enriquez, Karpeta created two bespoke 24-metre-long carpet runners, designed specifically for the space and the occasion.

Thanks to our Made in Italy production and advanced machinery, we can work on exceptional dimensions while maintaining precision, consistency and attention to every detail.

From standard rugs to large-scale custom projects, our production capabilities allow us to transform a creative vision into a unique textile surface.

Colour is material, research and craftsmanship.

Dyeing is a fundamental step in the creation of our rugs, giving each yarn depth, character and identity.

From natural dyes, obtained from plant- or animal-based pigments, to synthetic dyes, developed through precise chemical processes and purification stages, every colour is the result of careful research.

The yarn is immersed in the dye and treated until the desired shade is achieved, with processes and timing varying according to the material and colour intensity.

A palette begins with material, but comes to life through colours.
