Guglielmo Ulrich, a graduate of the newly founded Architecture University at Politecnico di Milano, studied under G*etano Moretti and Piero Portaluppi. In 1930, Guglielmo Ulrich founded the company Ar.Ca: Arredamento Casa, for which he would design furniture. In the early stages of Italian industrial production, Ulrich chose to create one-of-a-kind furniture and objects for an elite clientele. During these years, Ulrich became the trusted architect of Milan's upper class: his clients included names such as Mondadori, Agnelli, Visconti, Gavazzi, and Dubini. From 1932 onwards, Ulrich participated in the Triennale Design Museums, becoming a reserved but important figure in the Milanese furniture scene. His fame was further enhanced by the numerous reviews published in Domus magazine. In the 1960s, Ulrich began to expand into industrial production.

Carlo De Carli was born into a middle-class family in Milan. After studying classical studies and graduating in architecture, he worked for a year in Gio Ponti's studio, where he later took over the chair of Interior Architecture, Furnishings, and Decoration at Politecnico di Milano University in 1962.

He created most of his architectural, exhibition, and design works from the postwar period to the early 1970s. His work as a designer, closely tied to theoretical thought, places the person at the center of the project, prioritizing the process of shaping spaces and objects rather than their very being, and embracing their mutual relationships.

This constant research drives him to create new forms, contributing to the renewal of taste and trends in Italian architecture and design.

During his studies, Borsani participated in the fifth edition of the Triennale with his Casa project Minima, which earned him the silver medal. Born in 1903, Paolo Buffa was a key figure in twentieth-century Italian design. He is known primarily for his elegant and extremely sophisticated style, combining functionality with exquisite aesthetics. He attended the School of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, where he graduated with a degree in Architecture. He developed a keen interest in furniture and design in particular, a passion that would remain with him throughout his life, to the point where he collaborated with major architectural firms and furniture companies. His aesthetic taste and refined style, simultaneously modern and classic, stood out. Buffa favored the use of wood, inlay, marble, and details in bronze, mirror, and glass in his furniture and furnishing accessories, establishing a distinctive style in the postwar boom years of Italy. He leaves behind an immense artistic legacy, a source of ongoing study and research by design passionate and, above all, by important design and art collectors.

Italy 1940 circa

Pietro Chiesa descended from a distinguished Ticino family of artists, after an apprenticeship with the glassmaker Giannotti, he opened his own glass workshop in 1921. In the early 1920s, he participated in the Venice Biennale, the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the exhibitions in Cologne and Barcelona. In his artistic production, he combined extreme modernity with great technical skill in the creation of his works.
In 1932, he was called by Gio Ponti to share the direction of the newly founded FontanaArte, a role that gave him the opportunity to express his full creativity, designing over a thousand different objects, including furniture, tables, lamps, stained glass windows, and art objects in general. Some of his most famous designs are still in production today, such as the curved Fontana table (1932), the Cartoccio vase (1932), and the Luminator floor lamp (1933).

Osvaldo Borsani a passionate and curious man, since his beginnings at the family business (ABV - Arredamenti Borsani di Varedo), he has shown an irrepressible vocation towards everything that is avant-garde, technology and innovation. Franco Albini mirror in rattan and bamboo, Production Bonacina 1960 ca.
Dimensions: 61 cm x H 75 cm.

Franco Albini was one of the most representative Italian architects of the 20th century, a proponent of Italian Rationalism. Albini embodied the ideal of an architect completely immersed in contemporaneity. Discussing the disciplinarity of design, architecture, or urban planning would have been meaningless for Albini, but he fused the three dimensions according to a humanistic approach that linked him to the leading masters of the Modern Movement. His research addressed these fields with rigor and remarkable coherence throughout his nearly fifty-year career.

Bonacina is a historic Italian company, renowned for its handcrafted rattan and wickerwork, founded by Giovanni Bonacina in Lurago d'Erba in the province of Como. Originally a basket maker, the company evolved through collaborations with leading designers such as Franco Albini, Giò Ponti, G*e Aulenti, and others. Today, led by the fourth generation, Elia Bonacina, the company combines tradition, sustainability, and international design. Its in-house company museum showcases its history, interweaving past and present in an ongoing dialogue under the banner of design.
