Why does an industrial blade never wear down evenly?
Even a high-quality industrial blade does not wear down uniformly along its entire length. This is a normal phenomenon, caused by the varying working conditions it is subjected to during cutting.
✔️ Wear is never the same everywhere
Cutting pressure, the material being cut, speed and the way the blade is used can create areas that are subject to greater wear than others.
✔️ The centre and the tips work differently
In many applications, the load is not distributed evenly. Some areas of the blade are under greater stress and therefore tend to wear out more quickly, affecting the quality of the cut and the efficiency of the process over time.
✔️ Sharpening is essential
Sharpening a blade is not simply a matter of restoring the cutting edge. When carried out correctly, it compensates for the different areas of wear and restores the blade to its optimal geometry, improving both its performance and service life.
At MVM Srl, we analyse every blade before sharpening, because every sign of wear tells the story of how it has been used. Only through a thorough assessment can we identify the most suitable treatment and guarantee reliable results over time.
