Porro S.p.A.

Porro S.p.A. The intrinsic ability to interpret wood, offering an incredibly wide range of finishings, since 1925.

Porro was founded in Brianza, the traditional birthplace of Italian quality furniture. In the heart of this area, in the small town of Montesolaro of Carimate, the brothers Giulio and Stefano Porro, established in 1925 their first workshop dedicated to the production of old-style pieces of furniture produced for the newborn Milanese bourgeoisie. The transition to second generation of Porro family,

with the cousins Carlo, Arturo and Silvio, marked the turn to Modern style in the 50's, also thanks to the long and successful collaboration with the architect Giulio Moscatelli, who in 1955 designed the new workshop next to the family house. In the 60's the transformation in a real industry needed a new productive pole, opened in 1968. Since its very beginning with some of the main Italian designers, such as Bruno Munari, who in 1966 was entrusted with the design of the corporate logo. From him came the idea of transforming to two Os of the name Porro into two screws seen from above, thus including in the symbol of a woodworking company its most representative working tool. Since the mid eighties, when the third generation joined the company, the cousins Lorenzo, Fabio, Giovanni e Danilo Porro, design has become the driving force: the partnership with Piero Lissoni, art director since 1989, started right in that period. During the years, he has designed some of the company’s flagship products such as the table Ferro (1994), which is still a bestseller, a sculptural item that perfectly embodies the clean design of the brand. The attendance to the Furniture Exhibition of Cologne, the cooperation with the German designers Wolfgang Tolk and Werner Aisslinger and the entrance in the German market, are the first steps of a coherent project of internationalization, which strengthens in the 90's, with the creation of an international network of sale agents and the participation to exhibitions on the 5 continents. Among the targets of the new millennium, the enlargement of the manufacturing pole in 2000 with the building of a new warehouse of 14 thousand square meters and the opening in 2004 of the first mono-brand shop in via Durini 15, Milan. The subsequent cooperation with external designers, among whom Christophe Pillet, Jean Marie Massaud, Front, Alessandro Mendini, Soda Designers, GamFratesi, further enhanced Porro catalogue: an all-round offer characterized by many designs, different sensitivities but with a consistent image and the ability to meet the most demanding requirements together. Today Porro Industria Mobili counts on the cooperation of more than 100 employees and over 600 retailers across the globe, with exports account for 50% of turnover.

Relive the Porro Salone booth experience.

Step by step, the 2026 novelties intertwined with updates to the architectural systems, forming transversal landscapes where the absence of technical lighting created a suspended atmosphere, born from the brand’s research into the quality of light, seamlessly integrated into its systems.

With a design approach that moved from the scale of architecture to that of the environment, down to the smallest details, Porro’s space was conceived as a coherent and layered narrative designed to capture curiosity and open to each individual’s personal interpretation.

At the Porro Milano showroom, the new 2026 design collaborations were unveiled within an industrial setting that reflected the brand’s refined and forward-looking vision.

Under the enduring artistic direction of Piero Lissoni who had shaped its identity for over three decades the dialogue with contemporary voices continued to expand with coherence and intent.

The collaborations with Nao Tamura and Dordoni Studio were reaffirmed, while, for the first time, the internationally renowned studio Yabu Pushelberg joined the Porro universe.

The new pieces were revealed on a luminous platform conceived as a catwalk: a stage where design became performance, and each piece emerged with presence, rhythm, and identity.

On April 22, the Porro Milano showroom on Via Visconti di Modrone 29 hosted Domestic Haiku, a sensory performance by Isa Traversi.

With the contribution of dancers, actors and ‘other’ presences tangibly close to the visitor micro-dramaturgies have revealed the intimate spaces of the Porro home like real, free, and visionary haiku, where the lines and materiality of Porro furnishings were in dialogue with the bodies and emotional gesture.

“Just as the Haiku is a poetic form that captures the brevity of a moment and suggests an emotion, this performance offers an immersive perspective on Porro’s production through the tangible presence of the dancers’ bodies, music, and the fluid threshold of unexpected apparitions” – as stated by Isa Traversi, defining her choreography haiku in motion.

Around the table, guests are invited to sit on a selection of designer seating, including the Romby chairs by GamFratesi ().

In the art room, two Origata consoles in arancio siena by designer Nao Tamura () stand out with their vibrant colors.

At the Porro Milano Showroom, Via Visconti di Modrone 29, the installation “Reimagining Beauty” by Piero Lissoni transforms the space, throughout FuoriSalone week, into an essential and evocative industrial landscape.

Conveyor systems from the Brianza factory become display structures, while neon lights define a contemporary atmosphere.

Here, the pieces designed by Lissoni & Partners, Nao Tamura, Yabu Pushelberg and Dordoni Studio for the 2026 collection appear as if just off the production line suspended between completion and the beginning of their journey into the world.

From April 9 to 11, 2026, the Porro New York flagship store took part in “Icons of Italy,” an initiative by the Altagamma Foundation celebrating Italian creativity.
The showroom featured a dedicated installation of the Inlay cupboard by Front, highlighting the refined craftsmanship of marquetry, alongside a curated wine tasting in collaboration with LivioFelluga, echoing the same compositional aesthetic.
The project also reflected the spirit of the third National Made in Italy Day and the “NOI / WE, MADE IN ITALY” initiative, celebrating Italian craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation on April 15, Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday.

After collaborating on the Origata bench and desk, Nao Tamura returns to design for Porro with the Ryo bookcase.

Through light and color, Ryo articulates the interior with a quiet sense of order, shaping the surrounding environment and creating engaging sensory experiences.

A matrix for composing dynamic spaces, the new Ryo bookcase takes central stage in the “Prima Visione” shooting by Daria Pandolfi, photo Omar Sartor, on the April issue of Living Corriere magazine.

More than a functional object, it becomes a surface where light shimmers and shadows interact, enhanced by an almost invisible protective finish that preserves the material’s raw texture and natural character.

Experience it in person from 21 to 26 April in Milan at the Salone del Mobile.Milano (Hall 11, stand D15 E18) and FuoriSalone (Porro Milano showroom via Visconti di Modrone 29).
