Pair of "Medestolen" armchairs by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia, 1956-57

Designed by Børge Mogensen in 1956-57, the "Medestolen" armchairs, model 2254, were produced by Fredericia Stolefabrik. Mogensen was one of the central figures of Danish Modern, and from 1955 his work with Fredericia and Andreas Graversen became one of the defining partnerships of the period: natural materials, honest construction, furniture made to last.

Shapes that still work sixty years later. A few signatures you'll recognise straight away. All one of a kind.

More than 200 pieces come through Casafika every month. Some of them we'd rather not let go.

An essential shape. A material time has made better. A signature you recognise straight away. Those are the ones that disappear first, and the ones we never want you to miss.

From October they get the space they deserve. It's called the Monthly Drop.

Once a month we choose the best pieces that reached our warehouse from Northern Europe, restore them in our workshop and bring them out together. Around 10 pieces, no more. A short selection, worth looking at slowly. Every piece is one of a kind, and once it finds a new home it doesn't come back.

First drop: 14 October.

Applique “S-2021” di Hans-Agne Jakobsson per AB Markaryd, anni ’60, con quattro diffusori in rame satinato su struttura laccata viola. I coni orientano la luce verso l’alto e verso il basso, mentre il rame ne amplifica i riflessi anche da spenta.

“S-2021” wall lamp by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for AB Markaryd, 1960s, featuring four satin copper shades on a purple lacquered structure. The cones direct the light both upwards and downwards, while the copper catches and enhances reflections even when switched off.

Divano “Eva” di Bruno Mathsson, produzione svedese anni ’60, con struttura in faggio laminato e curvato. Sedute e schienali sono costruiti attraverso larghe cinghie di tessuto intrecciate direttamente sulla struttura: una soluzione che asseconda il corpo eliminando l’imbottitura tradizionale e rende immediatamente leggibile la costruzione del divano. Marchio originale presente.

Sideboard danese anni ’50-’60 attribuito a Erik Brouer, con un ampio fronte in teak scandito da quattro ante scorrevoli. All’interno, ripiani e due vassoi estraibili con frontali in teak e giunzioni a coda di rondine raccontano la qualità della lavorazione anche nei dettagli meno visibili.
