Scientific Relevance of Vaastu in Modern Architecture
Vaastu Shastra is an ancient hindu system that has its origins around 6000 B.C. The ancient word basically translates into science of architecture and represents a conduit between man and nature and provides laws on the construction of homes and guidelines for a healthy, wealthy and peaceful abode.
Vaastu is not an education system but in actual terms its vidhya.The difference between Vidhya and shiksha is that any wisdom or knowledge, whose origin is in vedas is called Vidhya-rest everything else is shiksha. And because of this sangeet,jyotish,vaastu is vidhya and computers,karate and other is modern form of education. In modern architecture one learns Principles and heritage of making buildings, so it is called shiksha.
On the other hand vaastu finds its origin in the Esthapatya veda which clearly states principles and parameters to even select the site fit for construction for the chosen purpose and as per the requirement of the owner.There is a clear continuum and relation between vaastu and modern architecture.
The current trend is to buy an apartment with all the amenities and one being easy on pocket,hence Vaastu becomes redundant.India being a developing country , a common man cannot afford concepts like vaastu, and for many its enough to own a roof.But people must realize that Vastu is a vedic science and architectural technology that is not time related but eternal.The ancient architects were aware of structural engineering and construction technologies that are being used even today. So the question of vastu being obsolete does not arise.. The difference lies in approaching the concepts.
Some realtors religiously follow vastu while designing and building homes and complexes, so thankfully the common man need not worry about the spaces being Vastu compliant or not.
In Modern Physics energy and matter is behind every physical phenomenon..But Vaastu penetrates at all four levels, namely physical,energy,karmic and spiritual,on the other hand Modern architecture takes in account only one level i.e physical.

Vastu extracts the finest aspects of art,astronomy,Ayurveda,yogashastra,biology,chemistry,and physics.It understands the minutest influence of the sun,moon,the stars,the planets,the geomagnetic field,the earths atmosphere,wind direction,gravitational force,electromagnetic radiation on living organisms and human life and gives feasible solutions on site selection and establishes a logical sequence of house building activities.
Hence it is time to recognize our heritage and make good use of it.
