While it is too late to apply for full-tuition waivers, multiple partial scholarships are still available.

Undergraduate applicants are eligible for the following scholarships:
1. Based on the results of entrance examinations, students can receive 25% - 70% tuition discounts.
2. Graduates of the HSE Preparatory Year programme and other similar programmes offered by Russian educational institutions are eligible for 25% discounts.
3. Those, who have already paid their tuition receive a 5% discount.
4. Graduates of HSE’s partner secondary schools are eligible for a 25% discount.
5. Discounts for participants and winners of HSE competitions range from 25% to 70%.

There are also multiple scholarship options available for graduate applicants:
1. Based on the results of entrance examination and/or portfolio competition, applicants can receive 25% - 50% discounts.
2. Graduates of the HSE Preparatory Year programme and preparatory programs of other Russian institutions are eligible for a 25% discount.
3. Graduates of other universities who spent a part of their undergraduate/Master’s programme at HSE on a fee/paying basis receive a 25% discount.
4. Graduates of HSE’s undergraduate/specialist programmes and the Summer University program are eligible for a 25% discount.
5. Early conclusion and payment of the contract guarantees students a 5% discount.
6. Participants of HSE competitions who were short of winning places by 1 to 10 points are eligible for a 15% discount.

Muddassar Malik, who is pursuing a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Turku, Finland, will finish his Doctoral Research Traineeship at the HSE School of Finance in August 2019. HSE News Service spoke with Muddassar about his experiences in Moscow so far.

'The traineeship is funded by the Erasmus+ Global program to Russia through my home University. I won this scholarship, so all I had to do was to find the best institution where I could complete a significant portion of my research. I found the Higher School of Economics to be the most relevant and result-oriented'

HSE Ranks Among Top 60 Best Young Universities Worldwide in THE Ranking

In 2019 the HSE University has climbed from 84th to 60th place in the Time Higher Education (THE) world ranking of young universities. HSE University is the only Russian university to place in the top 100 of this ranking.

The ranking includes universities established within the last 50 years, and it is derived methodologically from THE’s main ranking, which is published in the fall.

The ranking criteria are similar to the general institutional ranking, but their respective assigned weights reflect the specifics of young universities who have not yet managed to gain the necessary academic reputation: while reputation is weighed at 33% in the general institutional ranking, it carries a lesser weight of 22% in the ranking of young universities, and the remaining percentage points are redistributed among other criteria.

Unlike most of the universities represented in the ranking, HSE University was indeed created in 1992 from scratch. Many of the other universities in the ranking appeared as a result of structural reorganizations that occurred within the last 50 years.

Students can choose from a wide range of interdisciplinary courses that focus on developing in-depth expertise in fields such as economics, international relations, business and management, law and finance, communications, design and computer sciences.

Applications will be accepted from May 1 to September 30, 2019.

First Season of Megacities of the Future Webinars a Great Success

The ‘Megacities of the Future’ project, where HSE University’s top experts https://www.hse.ru/en/?utm_source=admiswebsite&utm_medium=news&utm_campaign=Megacities presented on such topics as urban space, ‘smart cities’, administration in science, technology, and innovation, the use of AI in urban planning, the ‘Internet of Things’, current urban design trends, and other topical issues, reached its conclusion at the end of May.

The webinars were held every Thursday from February 14 until May 30, attracting participants from all over the world, including the USA, the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Columbia, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan and China.

The total number of people who enthusiastically took part in the project came to over 36, 000. Moreover, online learners who joined two or more webinars received official HSE certificates for their participation.

Take Part in Global Scholarship Competition

HSE University will hold its Global Scholarship Competition for the 2019/2020 academic year from October 24 to October 31, 2019.

Participation in the Global Scholarship Competition 2020 is free of charge.

Eligibility Criteria:
• High-school students studying in the 10th or in 11th grades (or in the 11th or the 12th grades for those pursuing a 12-year school programme, respectively);
• Those who have graduated from international comprehensive schools or currently study in international colleges and are under 30 years of age.
