A research trip to Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Hazaribagh. Learning about the state’s culture, crafts and communities. There is just so much inspiration, so much to absorb, and so much joy all around us.

The stunning pinks of the lotus flower spotted at a haat. The songs of the Santhali women. The beautiful handloom sarees carried with such grace. The freshly made thekua at 7am. Little joys.

We were lucky to be at Chengjora village during the sohrai festival, and welcomed warmly.

We also met some incredible people, but more on that later…

We met in May, and over the last six months, we’ve worked with her to shape her dream project – Pulp

Pulp is an unconventional publishing house for children. Thinking tools disguised as books. Books that speak to children’s minds, not age. These books don’t dilute ideas, they deepen them through curiosity, imagination and play. They don’t look like children’s books – just really fascinating, whimsical, unpredictable, layered and intelligent books. Pulp is cool. Really really really cooooooool.

Three books are ready. You can get them on www.pulp.club
Many more ideas WIP.

Also, a hat tip to this crazy team that can pull-off anything. Really. Won’t lie – it’s been manic. Tight timelines. Production errors. Late evenings. File management nightmares. But this lot does everything with so much joy, heart and soul. Look at their happy faces, beaming with pride :) LOVE.

The snow leopard is to Kyrgyzstan, what Kyrgyzstan is to the snow leopard.
In 2024, we were invited to design the National Symbol for Kyrgyzstan. While the exercise was cancelled by the government, we’re truly proud of what we had created, and would LOVE to share it with you.

A part of the design brief was to connect the snow leopard to existing national symbols and culture – the flag, the crafts, and the ecology. We also wanted the snow leopard to be perceived as a majestic symbol of the delicate balance of the natural world. With its graceful movements and striking appearance, it moves through the highlands with a sense of calm independence, embodying the wild beauty and nobility of the mountain landscapes.

This proposed symbol is a combination of this guardian of the highlands, created in Kyrgyz felting details, protecting the 40-rayed Kyrgyz sun.

Supporting our clients on Snow Leopard Day - Oct 23.

Across the world, people are spending 23 mins walking, running, stretching or dancing to celebrate the snow leopard, the athletes of our mountains, and the fragile ecosystem it represents.

We tried the join this global movement in our own little way. A 23 mins walk around the neighbourhood, collecting and admiring wild flowers, the beautiful tall trees around our studio, and just a bit of a hop skip and jump on the streets :) We work in the heart of the city, so this was our version of a “nature’” walk.

Having worked on a project involving snow leopard conservation earlier, this is a cause we care about deeply. Happy Snow Leopard Day to all!

Mharo Khet is an ode to this most essential ingredient for every farmer – the sun.

The naming system for the 10 cottages are inspired by the ragas. Ragas are associated with the transition of time, days, seasons and moods. From Basant to Megh, and from Purvi to Saveri – each name is a reflection of Mharo Khet’s soul.

The visual language is soft, and quiet, so that the natural beauty of the farm can speak to the guests. The illustrations connect the dots between each space. The scent of the chamomile, a flock of drongos, a trail of ants – the illustrations capture the movement of the farm and its inhabitants.

This project has been our highlight of the year so far. We pushed our limits to create a brand story that could encompass this dynamic space - stay, dining and farm experiences. We crafted each piece with heart, and sought out production techniques that did justice to it all.

Mharo Khet is a farmstay in the Thar desert, that is a celebration of India – food, design and art. Traditional. Contemporary. Indian. Rooted. It’s all of this. And, none of this. Not trendy, neither classic.

The logo is an ode to the most essential ingredient for every farmer – the sun. The sun gives life. The sun nurtures. The sun transforms. Under the sun, the farm thrives. The sonamukhi sways gently in the breeze. The hoopoe hops around on the lawns. The jugnu returns at dusk. This circle of life begins and ends with the sun.

While the Mharo Khet logo is an ode to the sun, the other spaces celebrate the harmony of sky, water, earth, and the produce of the farm.

Arivaame was an event hosted by last weekend, to celebrate Kodava culture. An evening of songs, stories and shared heritage.

The design showcases motifs from Kodava culture - the hourglass-shaped duddi drum, the pichangatti knife, the kokkethathi crescent-shaped pendant worn by women, and the sacred thook bolcha lamp.

We were mesmerised by the performances - pariya kali, thaali paat, ummathaat and bolkaat. And as always, we learnt so much about Coorg through this process.

This vibrant, colourful, energetic, fun-loving and full-of-heart community 🩵

As a part of the brand design, we created a range of merchandise for the Fleetfoot Scuba dive tribe. Each piece reflects the energy of this community.

T-shirts, sippers, wristbands, and tags. Very neon. Very bold. Super fun 🤩

Dive deep. Climb high.

FleetFoot Scuba 🐠 🐟 is not just a dive tribe – it’s a way of being. A brand that’s been growing its community steadily over the last 10 years, Fleetfoot was ready for a refresh, and a much needed shift in its perception.

While most scuba diving clubs embrace the ocean, Fleetfoot’s identity reflects the vibrancy of its community – loud, playful, and high on energy.

Fleetfoot’s no-fuss attitude is reflected in the neon colour palette and a bold graphic language.

New energy. Bigger adventures. Are you ready to dive in? 🦈

A generous measure of slowness and silence. Leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. The distant chirping of the thenkudukka in the cacao plantations. The dappled light filtering in on a rather warm afternoon. This feeling, this stillness, is the perfect recipe for Cocoacraft Chocolate Factory

A slow-cooked labour of love, we're proud to show you the work we've done with this homegrown brand of chocolates. A catalog of 30+ products across multiple categories had us deep dive into a strategy, packaging architecture and visual design exercise.

We're sharing a peek into some of the packaging here today. More details to follow over the next few days.

Shall we use a goat or a cow or a bull? What crop is the goat grazing on? Is there enough diversity of people across all the illustrations? Children, we need to show more children. Does the landscape look lush enough? Where's the river? We hope those trees are actually found in these regions. That's not an Indian cow. No no no, there is no leader, everyone in the village sits together during a discussion. THIS is the correct ploughing action (our client actually demonstrated this over a Zoom call).
Nuance. Authenticity. Semiotics. Call it what you will. But for us, it was a lesson in humility. These details were important, and we had to get it right till it was alright :-) All thanks to a client who patiently (and impatiently) pointed out every aspect that needed thought, crafting and authenticity. Here's looking at you, Kiran Singh.
And Garima, truly burnt the midnight oil on this project. Her illustration style brought everything to life.
