CR Kitchen Design ק.ר. עיצוב מטבחים Certified kitchen and bathroom designer with 12 years of experience in the field. Why not just go to a kitchen company?

Are you considering a kitchen renovation but you’re not sure what the next step is? Did you recently buy a home “on paper” and want to make changes to the kitchen offered? A freelance kitchen designer will take you through the entire process of kitchen design and renovation from A to Z. Kitchen companies are usually wildly overpriced and many will rush you through the design process, not giving pr

oper thought to the needs of a religious or larger family. Designing a kitchen properly is a process that requires time and thought, not to be rushed through for the sake of signing a contract with a company. They will push you into purchasing more expensive gadgets, without properly explaining to you the pros and cons of each item. Another disadvantage to purchasing through a kitchen company is that they won’t allow you to leave their showroom with a plan, which makes it impossible to compare prices between competing kitchen companies. What can a freelance kitchen designer offer you?
• A thorough and comprehensive explanation of materials and hardware
• A guide to the latest kitchen fashions and gadgets
• The best way to utilize your budget, making sure that you get the kitchen you need without taking unnecessary shortcuts
• Recommendations for carpenters
• A comprehensive over view that will help guide you through the complicated and overwhelming process of renovating your kitchen.
• A complete set of kitchen designs including electrical, plumbing and lighting plans
I am a certified kitchen and bathroom designer with 12 years of experience in this field. I am English and Hebrew speaking and have worked alongside both Jewish and Arab carpenters. If you need someone who will listen to what you want, is time efficient, easy to deal with and will help you make up your mind, then call:

Polymer (laminate) is similar to Formica in that it is made from layers of paper with a plastic coating pressed together under high pressure and heat. It is different from Formica because it's qualities allow it to wrap around and into patterns on the door. This avoids the tell tale join line of Formica and allows for a decorative door. So if you like a framed door but can't afford wood and don't want to risk the more fragile shleif-lak, then Polymer is the choice for you.

Formica is plastic made up of layers of compressed resin infused paper. It is then stuck on to the MDF door. It is durable, easy to clean and cheap. Nowadays there is no end to the colours and finishes Formica comes in ranging from hi-gloss to textured wood finish. The main disadvantage to Formica is that it can't wrap around the door, so the seam where the front panel meets the edges of the door is visible.

Schleif-lak is a method of painting cabinet doors that allows for a very high quality and attractive finish. It can be used for both high gloss and mat finishes and anywhere in between. It is perfect to use with integral handles - but also works well with a intricate carved door. Beware - it needs to be treated carefully as it can chip easily.'

A veneer door is a very thin slice of wood that is glued onto a panel of MDF. This gives the look of wood, without the price of it. Another advantage of a veneer door is that it allows flexibility in terms of the design. Instead of being restricted to a frame design, a veneer allows a modern flat door, or even a pattern (seen on the kitchen attached). Beware: a veneer door still needs to be treated carefully, as you would a solid wood door.

Kitchen design tips:

Wooden kitchen doors are usually constructed as a frame with an inner panel, like the door featured. Wood warps easily as it's moisture content changes. The more wood is cut and glued, the stronger the wood becomes and the less likely the cabinet door is to warp. If you are interested in a wooden door without a frame - then you need to consider using a veneer....more info. about veneers in next weeks kitchen design tips...
