🎄 ❣️ As we open the doors on this Christmas morning of 2025 for a few hours keeping the old tradition going we do so with a heart full of love for our beloved mr John Kenny who sadly passed away yesterday🥹 mr Kenny has left us with very big boots to fill, We are deeply saddened for john’s family who he loved very much and we send our deepest condolences to also… John ran the shop here on Abbey street for over 25 years himself and even when he retired in 2009 he helped us in the shop each and every day,He absolutely adored the shop, the customers, and the fun and laughter was always on the go.. The shop back door would open John would walk into the shop and before you’d get to say hello John he would say I’m grand thanks🤣 His sense of humour was mighty! The things he would do or say would make you cry with laughter. I took over the shop in 2009 and it wasn’t an easy task, I didn’t know I could actually achieve having a business or running one I didn’t know what was involved in running one myself or could I afford to run one but mr Kenny said yes you can do it I know your the man for this job and I believed in myself eventually and went for it, I will be eternally grateful for everything John has done for me and the help he provided, John was old school worked very hard, he knew everyone and their granny where they lived and who they were related to, he loved the chats loved his cup of tea and slice of apple tart or fruit cake, loved his porridge in the morning and the newspaper, walking the dog he loved very much, he loved doing the shop newspaper returns I could never get a turn doing them ha , Attached pictures of John wishing Declan well on joining the fire brigade….. I will do my best to keep the small shop on abbey street going the shop John poured his life into building, The abbey stores will never be the same without you mr Kenny I see you everywhere In it you achieved so much in your life and you should be a very proud man and that’s for sure ❤️ John wasn’t just John Kenny, He was my best friend and my no1 supporter the last 16 years, I will miss you every day of the rest of my life🥰. We will keep the show on the road as you asked….. Until we meet in heaven John you rest in peace now Kevin and staff ❤️
