Our Mam Tracey, mother of 4 children 2 son in laws and nanny of 6 is the absolute rock of our family.
For generations, our family has been impacted by a rare, severe hereditary condition caused by an LMNA cardiomyopathy gene mutation. Tragically, this condition took the lives of her brother Sean at just 39, her father Billy at age 37, and other beloved family members.
In 2021, Mam was diagnosed with the same mutation, leading to years of severe heart failure and intensive medical care.
Mam said to us, “I'll put on my boxing gloves and fight the good fight for yous."
True to her word, she fought and we received a miracle. Mam officially received her life saving heart transplant at the Mater Hospital!
While we are beyond grateful, her recovery is a delicate, critical process. Because she is on heavy anti-rejection medications, her immune system is severely compromised.
Anyone who knows our Mam knows how incredibly proud she is. Asking for financial help goes completely against her nature, and it isn't easy for us as a family to ask either. But right now, we have to put pride aside to make sure she has the safe environment she needs to heal.
We are raising funds to cover essential post-transplant cost such as home safety adaptions. Infection control for hepa air purifiers and deep cleaning services to keep her home sterile. Medical travel for fuel, tolls parking for her weekly follow up appointments and blood work at the hospital.
Our Mam fought with everything she had to stay here for her children and grandchildren. Any support whether a donation or simply sharing this page will relieve a massive financial burden so we can focus entirely on helping her heal.
