⭐️ Newest kid on the block ⭐️

SHAMAN

We are thrilled to announce a new face to our stallion roster. A beautiful looking son of Shamardal, Shaman joins the ranks here at LHS for the 2026 breeding season.

At 2, Shaman was a 2 time winner and was 2nd and 3rd at listed and group level before running a creditable 5th in the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. At the end of his two year old season, he was rated 120. A close 2nd in the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains to “Persian King” followed by a second place in the Gr.1 Prix Jacques le Marois against his elders, Shaman placed himself to be among the best milers of his generation.

His 4yr old career proved to be very successful having been an impressive winner of the Gr.2 Prix Harcourt beating Arc Winner Sottsass and Way to Paris, before finishing 3rd in the Gr.1 Prix Ganay. With a timeford rating of 119, Shaman raced and won on all surfaces from good to heavy.

He hails from one of the deepest families in the stud book, as a son of Shamardal and out of dual stakes winning Green Desert mare, “Only Green”. She is the half sister to champion race mare Occupandiste.

He is an all-round champion and a gentleman to have in the yard. He moves impeccably well and is lovely to handle.

He has settled in well alongside his stablemates, Decorated Knight, Scalo, Leading Light, Rajsaman, Recorder, Brian Boru, Seven Pockets, Burwaaz and Fine Grain.

As the Irish Champions Weekend is finally upon us, let us take a stroll down memory lane to the Irish St Leger 2003 where Vinnie roe stormed to victory for the 3rd time in a row. What an extraordinary achievement to go on again the following year and repeat the victory for a 4rth time in 2004. He truly made history as being the only horse to do it 4 times in a row.
Vinnie always showed determination and courage. He truly was an exceptional racehorse and sire.

Best of luck to all riders, trainers and connections for the weekend ahead. We will watch on whilst keeping Vinnie in our thoughts. 🇮🇪

Vinnie Roe 🤍
1998-2025

We, at Longford House Stud are sad to announce the passing of our great stallion, Vinnie Roe. He lived a long and happy retirement since 2019. He died peacefully after his morning feed. He is now among the stars in Irish Racing with 4 St. Leger wins to his name.
A special mention goes to John Balwin for all the care, love and attention that he gave Vinnie in his retirement.
Rest in peace, our friend.

Congratulations are in order for the connections of Bhean Saibhre, daughter of gr.1 winner Decorated Knight who won the opener in Ballinrobe on Monday. Trained by Aidan Howard, the filly drew clear finishing by 16 lengths ahead of Tippawan Haa.

Decorated Knight stands here at Longford House Stud, in County Tipperary.

A fabulous throwback to Royal Ascot 2014 where Leading Light denied Estimate of the Ascot Gold Cup. Joseph O’Brien when asked to describe the horse, he simply said “laid back and as tough as nails!” Leading Light stands here at stud in Tipperary.

Scalo🏆

➡️A German Group 1 winner and a classic producing sire. Standing at 16.2, he is a beautiful addition to our roster. ⬅️

Scalo was champion 3yr old c**t in German in 2010 and top rated older horse in German in 2011. He’s had much success having won the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano, Deauville (Gr.2), Preis von Europa, Cologne (Gr.1) and more.

His own sire, Lando, a top class gr.1 winning stallion who was named German Horse of the Year twice. Scalo’s pedigree speaks for itself. Lando was quite impressive on the track, having won the Japan cup in 1995, Gran Premio Del Jockey Club, Deutsches Derby etc. Scalo’s dam, Sky Dancing was broodmare of the year and also dam of 10 winners including 2 champions.

Scalo had a brief stint as a sire in France, having stood in Haras du Logis Saint Germain and Haras de Gelos. He has sired the 2019 Deutsches Derby winner and champion 3 year old, Laccarrio who now stands at stud in France.

Another winner of his to note is Ronaldo, who scored multiple times on the flat around mainland.

He’s got 50% winners to runners over jumps in the UK and Ireland.
