As part of ID15 celebrations GMIT Letterfrack is hosting a one-day conference, titled Déanta on th 30th October.

A cross discipline selection of designers will address the conference and share their experience of bringing products to market.

This diagram shows the resulting actions which came from the research carried out on the furniture industry in Monaghan by the Northern & Western Regional Assembly and Monaghan County Council which lead to the formation of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers Ireland.

A major new initiative to restore vigour to the Monaghan furniture industry, involving significant marketing and training developments and the strengthening of a new national representative organisation for the sector, was formally launched by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD Heather Humphreys, in the Hillgrove Hotel on Friday 29th of May.

The “Whither the Furniture Industry?” action plan is the product of the development phase of the Wood FootPrint Project undertaken over the past two-and-a-half years with support from the EU’s URBACT programme.
