Macroom Tidy Towns is a local voluntary organisation : https://macroomtidytowns.ie Often followed by a cuppa, and a good chat!

Every Saturday morning, we meet at 9am and spend two hours clearing up litter, weeding flower beds and carrying out other tidy towns activities. We always welcome new volunteers, so if you have some free time, please come along - the more the merrier!

Delighted to be able to facilitate Macroom's Street Feast on Sat last, May 30th. The weather obliged after a wet morning. Organisers, F Naheed, SECAD and Nadia Rashdan, Macroom Family Resouce Centre were well pleased with the day and the contribution of Macroom Tidy Towns volunteers who made their facilities available. All present enjoyed the food, the fun and the dancing. The Fairy Garden proved to be an ideal location for this family event.

Saturday and earlier this week. Evelyn did her last scone collection for us at The Mulligan Room today, Slán for now 🙂.Because of the wet morning,volunteers prepared our hub to accomodate the community "Street Feast". 2 swallows decided to visit our building this morning too!. Earlier this week YouthreachMacroom painted a new backing board for the "crib" as the students had some "downtime" .Thanks all 😁. We planted some 36 lavender plants that Lidl Ireland Macroom branch generously donated. 🤩🥸😎

A bit wet during the week.Good today 😃🌞.Painting ,planting, digging,weeding,litterpicking and all that good stuff. Images tell the story.Strangely enough ,nobody has to rush off early anymore.Could it be anything to do with scones from Armands ? ,who knows 😅. Thx for the cheesecake appetizer Catherine! .

Breakfast today for volunteers, in The Mulligan Room,courtesy of our friends Armands Ceimers and staff. The menu was extensive including vegetarian options ,majority went for the "full Irish"👌😍. Earlier,aside from Richard on dog bin detail and litterpicking operations, we had been putting down bedding plants and sensory varieties from Sweet Magnolia Garden Centre Lissarda Co.Cork. During the week: some green area trimming , painting and cleaning, and direct local council usage from our harvested rainwater tank.🫵🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🍃💚😊

Today Bishop McEgan Room 22 as part of there Living in the Community module decided to help Macroom in the Cork County Council Anti Litter Challenge.
They collected 351 cigarette butts on there travels through the town 🥲
They also met Garda Manning who praised the students for their hard work. 😊

A big thanks to Room 22 for all there hard work 🤩🤩

Busy week with weather improving : Clearing flower beds in the square. First week results from anti litter challenge analysis. Display signs. Tidy Towns competition submission completion, with input from Danone ,Macroom. Last day of biodiversity talks in Inchigeela,attended by Shiela. Surveying coolcour picnic/nature area. Checking Colmans Pk amenity/biodiversity area. Getting hanging baskets ready. Examining Oakwood estate entrance area. Then of course back for scones from The Mulligan Room. 😃🌞

Saturday activities and the previous week.🙂 Litter runs !Replacing and putting down new seating. First period of anti litter challenge is complete. Lots done much more to do! Today and during the week 😃.Litterpicking uptown and Dunnes area. Coolcour picnic area(rear) ,planting bluebells and investigating waterlogged/wet area. Some went to Inchigeela for a biodiversity overview talk organised through IRD Duhallow CLG ,met some members of Croi na Laoi - Inchigeela TidyTowns for "networking" .During the week continued wood staining/painting and added some previously bagged leaves to mulching area. 🌞🦇🐦‍⬛🦉🙌😄.nb merci once again to Armands for the blueberry scones .Unfortunately by the time myself and Catherine returned the cupboard was bare!😆

Volunteers on Saturday and earlier in the week also volunteers from Macroom GAA, some of whom you may recognise 🙂 with us,as part of spring clean April.😃
Large flower planters at railway view prepared. GAA volunteers covered the Castle Demenses and GAA areas. MTT volunteers, including Richard covered Barrack Lane and Paul and Murt did their usual sweep(no pun intended) around the midtown area. Some work around the famine memorial near O'Riadas. 😁.
Continued appreciation to Armands and the Mulligan room for keeping us supplied with delicious scones!.
