Hi all,
I am Paudi at O’Sullivan Fuels, Barrigone, Askeaton Co Limerick. I am just wanting to share my thoughts with you on COVID-19 and its effects on people across all age groups within our community, particularly those who have a vastly reduced opportunity to meet with people like they used to do before COVID-19 came along.
We all agree it is a difficult time for young and old. We must get schools open as soon as possible, we must also get children back playing sports equally as quickly, sports participation for young people is vital for their development and they need this now more than ever.
The core of my message is for those who find the days and nights long because of lockdown restrictions, not helping the situation is the ongoing closure of services which serve as an important meeting point in rural areas. It allows people to meet to chat about the good things in their daily lives along with sharing their problems which is so important to all people. This ability to communicate inspires people and their days do not seem as long as a consequence.
In this material world we live today it is really important that communities look inwardly and look at how we all can work together to help one another particularly in these difficult times.(do not wait for government agencies to make it happen, they can help in other ways).It must come from within the community to start.
Our youth need support at this time, many of them are the first generation to have grown up in the internet age, they have not experienced what we are now living in and it is important that they feel that sense of love and security in their lives.
Equally our older people who may feel isolated, alone, no one to talk to, maybe people with businesses all need day to day connectivity.
So, we must reach out,
