Current performance by
Ann Marie Curran:
'Presentation of academic paper The Beautiful Nothings: Photography, Belief and Language for the duration of a c. 3,000 word count. In the paper I make connections between occult philosophy, philosophy of language and the alleged deaths of memory and photography: much ado about nothings'
Rachael Agnew:
'As an interstitial space, the elevator is a paradox of one fixed space in flux. From here both the active and passive plurality of this singular space can be fleshed out. Drawings are performed in order to interrogate these questions and encourage critical thinking about the structure of the space.'
Francis Mezzetti:
'Title: Reception. Lift, elevator, suggests the raising up to another level. The chamber is small. Anyone is free to enter. The rising up or letting down can be activated either within or without.
The recipient has a brief moment in this transitional space to receive and reflect on their choices'
The Elevator Is An Intimate, Liminal, mobile, Neutral Non-Space That can Connote Access, Utility, Transcendence, Sloth, Claustrophobia and Possibility. For one day we ask for it to be regarded as a hypothetical dream space - a place for questioning, creating and transforming in global synchronicity. What common themes might emerge? How can we approach this “in-between”?
The invitation has been translated into nearly twenty languages, all accessible through the main website elevate1.org.
The Work Can Be Interactive Or Anti-Social, Tender Or Abrasive, Permitted Or Guerrilla, Absurd Or Sensible, Masked Or Identified, Practiced Or Improvised, Short Or Extended, We Only Ask That It Be In A Lift.
