We would like to sincerely thank all the delegates who took the time to visit our stand at the recent Library Association of Ireland Conference.
It was a pleasure to meet so many library professionals who are clearly committed to creating more inclusive and welcoming spaces for all children.
We particularly valued the conversations and insights shared around how libraries are currently supporting autistic and neurodivergent children — and the real, everyday challenges that can arise when a child becomes overwhelmed during a visit.
Your feedback reinforced the importance of practical, in-the-moment solutions that allow children to remain in the library, regulate, and continue to participate.
This approach is strongly aligned with best practice in Occupational Therapy, where environmental modification is recognised as a key strategy in supporting self-regulation, as well as guidance from the National Council of Special Education (NCSE), which emphasises adapting environments to reduce sensory overload for autistic individuals.
Thank you again for your time, your insights, and your commitment to inclusion.
