prostoria ltd Prostoria Ltd
a furniture design company with manufacturing culture It is a philosophy that has over the years become our trademark.

Prostoria is an expression of our passion for creating furniture that is unique, and which fills a room with a palpable sense of well-being. Openness to new challenges, a gritty sense of determination and a searching spirit guided by new values merge into continuous process at Prostoria. Prostoria has, in the space of ten years, grown from being a small manufacturer of upholstered furniture into a

formidable industrial operation based on a philosophy of research-based design. Design encouraged us to research manufacturing technologies more deeply, and to explore the numerous possibilities offered by our chosen materials. Our dedication to quality is reflected in our decision to manufacture all types of furniture in-house, thereby ensuring adherence to high standards. Materials & Sustainability – Written in our Core

Natural materials inspire particularly strong feelings, perfectly designed to withstand life’s changing challenges and apt to become more beautiful as they age. When we take something from nature, we feel obliged to give something in return. At Prostoria, we give back by creating responsible furniture whose functionality, durability and comfort result in timeless aesthetics. Our factory operates as a research lab where sustainability is embedded in the design process, and where we use top-quality materials from prototype development right through to full scale production. Design Language

Prostoria's design is led by achieving the functionality of a product through a combination of understated beauty and supreme comfort. Modernism in the architecture is a legacy that forms the foundation and inspires the design language of our products, as Prostoria originates from Croatia - and Zagreb as its capital - is one of the rare cities in the world with deeply rooted tradition of Modernist architecture.

Our Richter Collection arrives at NeoCon 2026 in Chicago - contemporary furniture developed from the visionary ideas of Vjenceslav Richter, architect, artist and one of the key figures of European modernism.

Emerging from archival sketches, prototypes and unrealised concepts, the project transforms Richter’s modernist thinking into five contemporary furniture collections designed for today’s way of living.

Aire - winner in the Residential Sofa category at NYCxDESIGN Awards 2026.

Selected among strong international competition, the award recognises Aire’s distinct approach to contemporary living — balancing comfort, modularity, and visual lightness with quiet architectural precision.

Its floating silhouette and soft proportions create a calm, intuitive presence, while the modular system adapts naturally to different ways of living. The Aire low table extends this language through visual lightness and understated functionality, appearing to float within the space while adding warmth and refined simplicity.

Lightness was the starting point of Aire.

Its floating base creates an almost architectural sense of suspension, while the modular system allows compositions to shift naturally with the space and the way we live.

Aire sofa, designed by Ramos&Bassols for Prostoria, has been named Winner in the Residential Sofa category at the NYCxDESIGN Awards 2026.

The recognition marks another important milestone in Prostoria’s growing presence in the North American market, following the opening of the brand’s flagship store in and its permanent showroom at.

Aire explores the idea of freedom through comfort, modularity, and visual lightness - combining refined aesthetics, intuitive flexibility, and a calm architectural presence suited to contemporary living.

“Aire embodies warmth, lightness, and comfort. This sense of lightness is achieved through the distinctive floating base, which gives the sofa a refined, airy character while supporting the modular system and allowing the integration of additional elements such as side or end tables.

The tapered edges further emphasize Aire’s signature floating appearance without compromising comfort,” highlighted the designers David Ramos and Jordi Bassols.

This year’s Days of Oris felt especially meaningful for us. Alongside the opening of Revisiting Richter at Oris Kuća arhitekture / House of Architecture , we had the pleasure of spending time with the architectural and design community - meeting architects, partners, friends, students, and design lovers through conversations, exchanges, lectures, exhibitions, and shared moments around design.

One of the highlights was the lecture by Maroje Mrduljaš on the work of Vjenceslav Richter and the Revisiting Richter project - opening new perspectives on Richter’s ideas and their relevance today.

As a long-term friend of Days of Oris, Prostoria was also honoured to present the VR52 Chair from the Richter Collection to Vedran Mimica, recipient of this year’s Oris Award for Outstanding Contribution to Architecture.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared thoughts with us, and made these days in Zagreb so inspiring.

The VR61 Lounge Chair evolved from the original VR61 Chair conceived by Vjenceslav Richter in 1961.

While the chair remained faithful to Richter’s original proportions and geometry, the lounge version became an opportunity to extend the idea further - asking how a radical modernist concept could fully inhabit contemporary life.

Developed by Prostoria in collaboration with Numen/ForUse, Neisako and Grupa, the VR61 Lounge reinterprets the original through a more open posture, expanded proportions and deeper comfort, while preserving the mirrored symmetry and sculptural clarity at the core of Richter’s vision.

The structure was entirely re-engineered to meet contemporary ergonomic, safety and production standards - not as a reproduction of the past, but as its continuation.

On view from today at Oris Kuća arhitekture / House of Architecture in Zagreb until May 16.
