๐ฟ Then & Now: 20 Years of Sustainable Timber at Hong Kong Wetland Park
Completed in 2006, the Hong Kong Wetland Park in Tin Shui Wai was one of our early projects supplying sustainably treated timber for large-scale park construction.
We imported over 300 cubic meters of CCA H4-treated timber from New Zealand, sourced from FSC-certified sustainable forests. The timber was extensively used for decking, railings, and architectural features, and comes with a 50-year warranty against rot and termite damage.
Note: CCA treatment is avoided in some projects today due to its arsenate component.
Fast forward 20 years โ we recently revisited the site to assess the timberโs performance. Weโre pleased to report that it has held up remarkably well under exposed weather conditions.
As shown in the photos below, the timber has naturally weathered to a greyish patina โ a normal and expected outcome. A small number of members have been replaced due to wear and tear, but overall, the structure remains in excellent condition.
A testament to the lasting value of responsibly sourced, treated timber. ๐ฑ
