After Long Holiday

August is nearly over, the traditional long summer holiday will soon finish.

Especially for families with children, they usually seek this long summer break to enjoy their main family vacation of the year. However, and this is an incredibly common and typical response, a lot of people feel a sense of dread, lack of motivation and even fear at the prospect of going back to work or school after the long holiday.

To overcome this situation gradually, we can use the remaining days of August to calm our mind, reset our focus and prepare for a return to the normal, even comforting, routine.

So let’s get ready to take on any new situation, challenges or whatever comes our way!

長假後
八月快將過去，漫長的暑假也進入尾聲。

對於有孩子的家庭，一般會利用這個夏季長假特別為家庭成員安排一個家庭旅行。 然而，往往長假過後不論大人或小朋友對面對重返工作崗位或校園，不多不少都容易感到害怕或缺乏動力，更可能選擇逃避。

Comparing Ourselves To Others

Living in this big community, during the transitions from childhood to adulthood and eventually golden years, whether we are studying at school or college or facing challenges in our career, we, inevitably and repeatedly, compare ourselves to others, often measuring by social status, wealth, academic achievements, appearance or physique.

In today's competitive society, "winning at the start line" is considered vital - even before a child is born, parents start preparing for their education, activities, speciality points, insurance funds or even university graduation plans, as we want to be better than or in a more advantageous position than others.

However, everyone's background, living environment and life experiences are completely different. In our life journey, we face many varying situations, deal with hugely differing circumstances, encounter different kinds of people and in time, we make our own choices.

Hence, we should only compare ourselves with others if we have improved ourselves in some way, done better than before or achieved or surpassed our own expectations and standards (or maybe not even compare ourselves at all and just “be”) - those will be the best benchmarks for our lives.
