✨ Arrow Pit swim signs – built to last ✨

Back in March 2025, we originally laser‑engraved and varnished these Arrow Pit swim signs for . Time, weather, and lakeside life meant they were due a facelift – so instead of a simple resand and seal, we decided to trial a new, more durable technique.

Each sign was carefully:
• Sanded back
• Re‑engraved areas airbrushed with black paint
• Sanded again
• Flood‑filled with clear resin
• Final sanded
• Finished with Rubio Monocoat DuroGrit ‘Foxy Brown.’

A lot more work than the usual refresh… but the result?
✅ Sharper detail
✅ Deeper contrast
✅ A finish designed to stand the test of time and weather the elements

These beauties are now back where they belong, looking the part and ready for years of lakeside life 🎣

Another Rubio Monocoat restoration underway

This time we’re working on an oak timber extension that’s been looking a little tired after years of weathering.

So far, the prep is done ✅

We’ve sanded back the timber and given it a thorough clean using Rubio Monocoat Timber Cleaner to lift the grime and refresh the grain.

Now it’s a case of waiting for the weather to behave ☀️🌧️ so we can get a coat of Rubio Grit in “Grassland Beige” applied and really bring the oak back to life.

It’s already looking promising at this stage — watch out for an update soon with the finished result

Trialling Rubio Monocoat on an 8‑year‑old cedar hot tub 👀

The peeps at asked me to trial their External Wood Cleaner and Rubio Grit in “Foxy Brown” on this faded cedar‑clad hot tub — now 8 years old and definitely showing its age.

They supplied all the kit, so I got stuck in.

The process:
• Thorough wash down
• Light rub over with 120‑grit sanding discs
• Good scrub using the External Wood Cleaner, a firm brush and Rubio scouring pads
• Rinse well
• Finish with 1 litre of Rubio Grit – Foxy Brown

The results speak for themselves — it’s come up an absolute treat.
I’d highly recommend these products if you’re looking to revive tired exterior timber.

We’ll be monitoring how well the renovation lasts over time, so keep your eyes peeled for future updates 👀

New signs, new waters, same attention to detail 🎣

We’ve recently installed a fresh set of bespoke wooden signs for Arrow Meadow Fisheries , covering the much‑loved Broom Pit Lake and marking an exciting milestone with the opening of the new Brockhill Pools – opening today.

Each sign is laser engraved and finished using a new black resin infill technique, giving the lettering and graphics stronger contrast, improved durability, and a cleaner visual impact on site. This approach also helps reduce ongoing maintenance, keeping the signs looking sharp season after season in a natural waterside environment.

A small detail, but one that makes a big difference to the overall experience on the bank.

Ash bench project 🌿

A closer look at this handcrafted ash bench, designed and made to celebrate the character of the timber itself.

Using a thoughtful combination of seasoned and green ash, the design makes the most of every board, allowing natural movement, grain and form to do the talking.

Finished with yacht varnish, the bench is built to withstand the elements while ageing beautifully outdoors.

A simple, honest piece that’s made to last — and to be used.

Bespoke Yew Bed Frame — Phase Three 🌿🪵

We’re deep into the next stage of this bespoke yew bed frame and headboard, and the character of the timber is really beginning to shine through.

This phase has been all about shaping the frame, refining the joinery, and preparing the headboard so the natural grain can take centre stage. Every curve, cut, and finish is carefully crafted to honour this stunning piece of yew.

There’s still one final phase to go… and it’s a big one.
