My Most Expensive Woodwork Ever!
Years ago I saw a "piece of wood" for sale for £1 per cubic inch.
To be fair, it had been constructed very cleverly from many small pieces of yellow and purple timber and was designed to be turned on a lathe into something amazing.
Being me, I worked out that this was equivalent to £1,728 per cubic foot which compared to dry oak in whole planks at £30 to £70ish per cubic foot is quite a spectacular price.
This project weighed 11 grams and took several hours to make so I worked that out on the same basis:
£417,512 per cubic foot!

Unfortunately, this was a freebie project for a friend!

I recently made a pair of "organic shaped bowls" from a customer's own tree after one I made in the summer from the same tree, in the shape of a lilac leaf, provoked jealousy and more were requested. The pictures show the original; the new ones are quite different (note to self, post new ones after Christmas).

Good news: This article has a great picture of the tables and benches we made for the new Albert Hall music venue in Manchester.
Bad news: They are attributed to the designer who commissioned Acorn Furniture to make them.

These tables are huge weighing a third of a tonne each!

The amazingly talented Simon James O'Rourke of Simon O'Rourke Tree Carving Ltd carved these while he still worked for Acorn Furniture from trees that we removed in and around Wrexham. Teams4u The Charity are auctioning them so please repost this so it will be seen by lots of grandparents who wish to spoil their grandchildren.
