A large and impressive 19th Century serpentine shaped mahogany serving table by Gillows of Lancaster profusely carved all over with floral and foliate decoration, having a highly decorative shaped raised back centred with the trophies of arms motif above a gadroon-edged top with three mahogany lined frieze drawers, the central drawer stamped “GILLOW 17127” raised on four paw-footed monopods with alternating lion and satyr masks, finishing on a shaped plinth base with a gadroon-edge.

This serving table was probably made in London by Gillows around 1885, both serving tables (see other serving table we have for sale) have consecutive numbers so made for the same person for a mansion or country house and quite possibly in the same dining room, both are of exceptional quality and must have been very expensive when made, the carving and workmanship are absolutely fantastic. Circa 1885.
