Save your money - do it yourself! I put this hand made picket fence in a few years ago but the client wants a new look. This took me 5 minutes per post and panel to remove!

Homemade upgrade to the internals of a Suntour Q-Loc thru axle for my front wheel.
Started when I accidentally over-disassembled the original lost some bit and panic made new ones πŸ˜… i then decided to uprate it for a more durable, commuter spec.

Pic 2 shows:
Top: Original Components
Middle: prototype (or panic assembly when i couldn't find original components)
Bottom: final version (minus sheathing)

- Stronger spring to reduce wear and risk of failure, also longer for more forgiving adjustments

- Brass ferrule on steel rod acting as a proper shoulder in order to maintain axial conformity in the spring when seated

- Spring seated concentrically to prevent deformation

- Improved internal alignment and segment retention

- Now serviceable with easily replaced parts instead of disposable

It's about 15g heavier, which will upset lycra louts but the action is much smoother and way more confidence-inspiring.

Built at home, learned a lot, would do it again 🀘

A lil history lesson with this hand turned Bubinga(?) Screwdriver, swipe for the "lathe". - I am a "toolworks" as when i first started making i was in engineering, one of my mallet handles broke and i took it upon myself to make a new one, i spent days with a carving rasp making my first handle and completely caught the woodworking bug, i was gonna make tools.

8ish years, a college course, a career change, a home workshop, hundreds of projects throughout the construction industry, I've wired, cut, fit, made, plumbed, laid all sorts of things. I could count on 2 hands the tools I've made in that time, this being one of them. My point is that without taking that chance and daring to dream, i wouldn't be on this journey, i wouldn't have learned any of it. Take that chance, dare to dream, don't focus on the destination, as i never arrived at mine, but the journey has opened a whole world up to me.

Without my experiences, the size, shape, feel of this screwdriver would be conpletely lost to me.

Before > After

Tiler for an evening! Hope i did alright. It was my first time 😁

Replaced some tiles, a white goods engineer broke them getting the washing machine out (the mind boggles), cutting and running on an elderly lady in the process... πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Will be back eventually to redo the whole floor due to the colour difference from old to new and the poor alignment of the tiles that had been laid previously πŸ™ƒ

I don't like calling out sh*tty workmanship usually, but the lady in question gave me my first paying carpentry work when i was fresh out of college, and that faith gave me the confidence to continue to grow. This one was personal!

Shoutout for helping with the grunt work and continuing to put up with my grumpy self!

Removal of some side door van racking i made last year, i always try to design racking in a way that allows easy modification, this is a testament to that as taking it out took minutes

Black stained and oiled glass coffee table with fretwork -

I don't make a lot of modern looking stuff usually, but pleased with how this turned out, it was originally to be ebonised oak, but i like the black dyed pine, too.

I used Black Black wood dye and finished with .uk boiled linseed oil, i love this combo as the black is so stark it lends to the subtle luster of the oil in daylight
