It’s been a little while since I last posted, and there’s a good reason for that.
Over the past 7 weeks, my wife was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had to undergo surgery. It’s been a difficult and, at times, frightening period for our family, and understandably the business had to take a back seat for a while.
Thankfully, we’re incredibly happy and relieved to say that she now has the all clear.
It was a huge shock to all of us, particularly because she had no symptoms at all. Her cancer was picked up through routine bowel screening, which gave her the opportunity to have it treated early.
It’s really brought home to us just how important bowel screening is. If you’re offered a screening test, please don’t ignore it or put it off. And if you do have any symptoms or concerns about your health, get them checked out.
Anyway, back to furniture…
This is one of my latest pieces — a reclaimed timber table with a fantastic industrial cast-iron base. I love the combination of the warm, characterful timber with the original industrial metalwork.
It feels good to be back in the workshop and getting stuck into some new pieces. This piece has now sold but will be posting more pics of new, available stock this weekend.
More to come from Plank & Pigeon.
