Yesterday we sadly had to say our goodbyes to our beautiful boy Oscar ππΎπ
Over the weekend we found out he had a splenic mass, he was anaemic, and his kidney function wasn't great, we then found out he had tumours on his kidney. We decided to bring him home and spend qualty time with him before saying our goodbyes at the end of the week.
Sadly after a short stroll on Tuesday Oscar became very very tired and we knew by Wednesday morning it was time to let him go π
He didnt have the greatest start to life, being dumped in the snow as a pup in Bosnia, but luckily for us and him the wonderful rescuer Milena found him and nursed him back to health.
To this day I'm not sure how this wonderful woman managed to find her way onto my FB page in the January of 2013, but she did, as I scrolled I saw the picture of Oscar and wanted to help. By 10th of June 2013 we collected Oscar and the rest is history π
He was such a good boy, he put up with our lunatic lurcher dog Dodger, but he was a quiet happy boy.
He didnt really like humans ( I can totally understand that!!) until we moved to Whitstable, where he very soon learned that humans by the sea are friendlier and give you chips and treats!!!
He even made a beeline for folk sitting in their cars along the promenade watching the sunset, hoping they'd share their chips with him π€£
He was a clever thing only approaching humans that had dogs because of course they'll have treats, and the only male human he ever approached was at Hengistbury Head, who had a delicious bag of crisps π€£
He had a penchant for chips, prawn crackers and poppadoms!! π€·ββοΈ
He loved his food but he also loved his walks, he'd stay out all day if he could. He was a well travelled boy too, joining us on our holidays to Southern France, Switzerland, Italy, several jaunts to various beaches in the UK and he absolutely loved Dartmoor π
When his arthritis became too much we invested in a dog buggy for him, he hated it but it meant he could enjoy the outdoors longer.
He was my four legged doggy pal, always with me, through thick and thin, he'd sit with me in my studio whilst I sewed, he'd snuggle on the sofa in the evenings.
He was one of the most cutest, bear-like dogs who reminded me of Madame Cholet ( from the wombles ) at times!
He had the cutest snore, and funny pig grunt noises when he'd let you know he was awake or approved of something.
But, as well as the unconditional love he gave me, us, he also brought Reiki into our lives, when his arthritis got too much he would have weekly reiki sessions, which he loved. Honestly to see the difference in him during and after, its astonishing. A dog with no preconceptions, you watch and see the instant effects without a doubt.
This made me realise that THIS would be such a wonderful thing for me to be able to do for him and other dogs and other animals. As you know I absolutely love dogs and all animals, it felt and feels like the right path.
So for the past year or so myself and Mig have been practising Reiki.
Once I've got myself together again I'm hoping to enrol on an animal reiki course to enhance my knowledge further, and then hopefully I'll be able to help other animals ( possibly humans too, we'll see!!) That's the plan I've had in my head since April 2024!
I think this would be a wonderful way to honour my boy, who led me to this path πππΎπ
Thank you Oscar you will always be with me, in my heart and my energy, thank you for being the most wonderful, cutest, good good boy.
We miss you sooooo much already π
