✨1950s design that still turns heads today✨

Every day is different in the TopStitch workshop and this project was such a privilege to work on. This iconic Danish 🇩🇰 design Papa Bear chair and footstool was upholstered for a client last year.

Originally designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1951, the Papa Bear chair is one of the most recognisable pieces of Danish mid-century design, celebrated for its sculptural shape, comfort and craftsmanship.

Projects like this are exactly why we love what we do. Giving well-made furniture a new life, rather than sending it to landfill.

This Ercol day bed or studio couch was originally designed by Lucian Ercolani in 1956 — a true mid-century piece built around solid ash craftsmanship and timeless design.

Pieces like this were made to be lived with, not replaced.

Fully restored and reupholstered in a luxurious this one is now ready for another lifetime. This special piece is available for sale with but it won’t hang around for long !

Reupholstery isn’t just about changing the look. It’s about preserving quality, reducing waste, and investing in furniture that’s worth keeping.

This chair’s been in the same family for 70 years… 🤍

It’s seen a lot really — different homes, different moments…..but no one ever replaced it.

Our clients didn’t want something new, they
just wanted this one brought back properly.

So we refreshed the fabric with a beautiful velvet, gave it new comfort, but it’s still their chair.

That’s the thing with reupholstery
you’re not starting again… you’re keeping the story going.

We think that’s pretty special to be honest.
