Lambing’s just about over now and I’m starting to see an influx of repairs, servicing and sharpening of shearing equipment coming into the workshop.

New & used sales of shearing equipment, ancillaries & clothing also available at competitive prices!

*ATTENTION! *
Due to the ever increasing workload coming directly into the workshop, I have made the difficult decision to cease my mobile sharpening service, temporarily due to the ever increasing running costs of the van.
Driving the distances I travel, unfortunately makes it no longer cost effective. (The van is currently up for sale.)

I will still doing my weekly/bi weekly visits to Hawes & Leyburn Auction Marts, but this will be in my pickup… so look out for the sandwich board sign!

Mail order is still available to those clients from afar that used my mobile service and this will be turned around & returned as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your continued support & patronage in these uncertain & challenging times.

Apologies to those I am supposed to be meeting at Hawes Auction Mart this morning for collections & drop offs, but unfortunately the van has broken down just outside of Aysgarth.
I’ll coming just a little late in the pickup which is a silver 19 plate Fiat.

*Tip of the week!*

Always ensure you store your equipment in a dry place.

Water ingress will ruin your equipment.

This newer model clipper has unfortunately had a very premature end to its life from being stored in a damp area, having taken down all the major components inside of it.

Attention Pet Groomers you are about to embark on your crazy season! 🐾

It’s time to ensure all your equipment is in tip top shape ready for the rush!

A few of my regular groomer clients have been proactive this week and I have a bench load of work to be going at.

Don’t forget not to overlook your high velocity dryers. Keep the filters free of hair, dust and dander to prolong the life of their motors.

Tomorrow is my last mobile service at Millbry Hill Country Store, Richmond Store for this season.

I’ll be there between 10-2pm
Hopefully I’ll be back in the Autumn if they’ll have me.😆

Obviously, any items can be brought to my workshop anytime throughout the year for sharpening, service and repair.

Good evening!

I’m noticing I have quite a lot of new ‘followers’ to my page.
For those of you who are new, here’s a quick overview of the services I offer.

Paradigm Sharpening offers sharpening of:

* Shearing combs/cutters, dagging & Jakoti type shears.

* Equine & cattle combs & cutters (A2 type)

* Pet Grooming & Hairdressing/Barbering blades (A5 type) & most good quality trimmer blades .

* I specialise in high quality scissor sharpening, having trained in California, USA 🇺🇸, under the IBSA.
I serve many professionals such as hairdressers/barbers, pet groomers, upholsterers, tailors/seamstresses etc…ensuring correct angles and edges are achieved .

* Generic sharpening of knives, garden tools, lawn mower blades & chainsaws are also available.

I also carry out repairs and servicing to the following:

* Clipping/shearing handpieces, both mechanical & electrical.

* Overhead shearing machines & ancillaries.

* High Velocity Animal Dryers.

Sales of clippers, handpieces, blades, combs/cutters, longhorn shearing clothing plus PAT testing of electrical items are also available.

Just a polite reminder to keep your combs & cutters sharp and change them frequently.

I’m seeing an influx at the moment of farmers bringing in electrical/battery handpieces with stripped main drive gears.

90% of these clippers have a plastic or canvasit gear.
These will strip due to over tensioning of dull combs/cutters trying to make them cut when they have lost their edge.

Not only is it down time whilst the clipper is in for repair, but this will also shorten the life of your blades due to the extra grinding required to remove the damage and score marks from the blade and reinstate the edge.
