Two years of work completed for St Giles Church at Leigh on Mendip. It was a pleasure to be involved in this project to create a Community Hub in the church, a culmination of many years of planning and fundraising for them. A new Servery to enable a self-service cafe to operate, incorporating floor & wall units (some lockable) Kettle Tap and fridge enclosed behind a new Screen (which had to match the existing woodwork inside the church, built around an existing steel frame, working off detailed Architectural drawings to hide the steel frame and just leave hinge points accessible to hang the plate glass doors). A Toilet Block designed to incorporate 3 existing historic cupboard doors, where the style and colour had to be matched. A Bookcase to cover and insulate the back doors of the bell tower. The shelves and back had to be removable in case the doors ever needed to be opened (because they opened inwards). A Heritage Desk for the community to sit at whilst using the historical church records, and a Large Notice Board for community notices. All constructed in solid Oak. Very proud to have had all of this new work blessed by the Rt Reverend Peter Hancock, Bishop of Bath & Wells in a rededication ceremony for the Church in May 2019, and to meet all the other trades involved in this incredible project.
