I'm seeing a lot of this 'skirting instead of plinth' trend and I absolutely would not recommend. The whole purpose of a plinth is for it to be set back under the cabinets to allow space for the front part of your feet, hence the term 'kickboard'.
Front facing skirting like this may look pretty but it's a recipe for back pain and leaves the skirting vulnerable to damage from your vacuums/brooms/mops, especially on outside corners. Just because something exists doesn't mean it's fit for purpose.
