What a day! 💥
Thank you to everyone who came along to our Exercise-a-thon yesterday. It was such a fun-filled event with incredible session leaders and a brilliant range of activities including walking football, walking netball, kickboxing, t’ai chi, yoga, dance and functional strength. It was amazing to see so many people trying new things and supporting each other throughout. We couldn’t believe the energy of some of our members, who lasted the whole day!
A big, big thank you to our fantastic coach Lisa for helping organise the day, and to all our session leaders who generously gave their time. We’re also so grateful to all the volunteers who helped everything run smoothly.
And thank you to everyone for your fundraising efforts—we’re so close to reaching our target! If you’d still like to donate, please check the link here https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/biggerandbetter 💙🏋🏻‍♀️🥊

April is here and we are starting our 'daily dose' challenge! Exercise is essential for people with Parkinson's - it helps to better manage symptoms, keeps people connected and evidence shows it may help to slow down progression. Movement is medicine, and a daily dose can do wonders!
To finish off the month, we have our Parkinson's Exercise-a-thon - a full day of exercise, fun and community. It'll be tough, but together we will spur each other on and help raise funds for our fantastic groups and our local Parkinson's UK branches.
If you'd like to donate or sponsor someone taking part, you can do so here 🙏🏋💙

'Active April' is almost here! For World Parkinson's Awareness Month we are doing our own daily dose challenge but we'll also be contributing our group's activities to the Parkinson's UK Excellence Network Exercise Hub's Active April challenge. Here's how it works, join us if you can 😀

We want to help you increase your daily physical activity and celebrate what you are already doing!

Together we are aiming to log 166,000 minutes of exercise through April! That’s one minute for every person diagnosed with Parkinson’s across the UK.

You can sign up as an individual or as a group and you decide what types of physical activity or exercise you want to record. As well as tracking how much you have contributed towards the UK total, it will be possible to compare between groups, and between geographical regions. So, get as competitive as you like and start logging!

Instructions:

Click here to sign up https://activeapril.uk/

Then, choose whether you are signing up as a group or an individual:

- Sign up as a group — click Sign up, choose "Group", pick a name and region. Share the join link with your team so they can join, or allocate one person to log your collective weekly minutes

- Sign up as an individual — click Sign up, choose "Individual", pick your region and a username.

- Save your login code — you'll get a personal code after signing up. Keep it safe, it's how you log back in if using a different device.

- Log exercise — once logged in, enter what you did and how many minutes. Every minute counts toward the national goal.

-View Stats — If you click Stats at the top of the page you will be able to view data comparing regions, groups and individuals

Any problems please contact [email protected] 🏋💙
