When a 10-day job cancels hours before it starts… 🤯
One thing that’s difficult about running a small business is that when a customer books a large job, you often reserve days or even weeks in your diary specifically for them.
What many people don’t see is that while that time is blocked out, you’re often postponing other customers because you’ve already committed to another customer. You’ve invested time in that customer prior to even starting work on their job, travelling and time to quote in person, replying to questions, investing in materials ready for the job ahead etc etc.
Sometimes cancellations are unavoidable, and most business owners completely understand that life happens. But when a job is cancelled at the last minute, with poor excuses and total disregard for the tradesperson it can leave a small business with a significant gap in their workload and income that can be difficult to fill at short notice.
Behind every quote, booking and diary date is a real person trying to run a business, pay bills and support their family.
A little communication and consideration can make a huge difference.
