Riverbank Upholstery Riverbank Upholstery is owned by Lyndsey Hayes, an Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishings’ (AMUSF) qualified upholsterer.

Specialising in traditional upholstery and furniture restoration, Lyndsey’s aim is to restore your furniture to its original glory and ensure it is upholstered using traditional craftsmanship and care. The next course I’m running starting 26th April will teach the traditional craft skills required to completely upholster a stitch and stuff seat. This includes skills such as webbing, lashing in springs, blind stitch and top stitch to create an edge roll, as well as fitting calico, top fabric and trim.

New Upholstery Courses starting in March 2022.

6 week beginners Upholstery Course (Part 1)
Dates: 6 weeks for 3 hours each week (Tuesday evenings 6pm-9pm starting Tuesday 1st March 2022 until Tuesday 5th April 2022)
Cost: £220 with drop in dining seat frame provided and including materials and course handouts

A combination of theory and practice to give you a basic grounding and understanding of traditional upholstery techniques. 3 hours per week. Approx. 1 hour of theory and / or demo followed by two hours of practical application. Suitable for those with no previous experience or those who already have some basic skills but would like to recap.

6 week Upholstery Leisure Course (Will run on a rolling six week block basis)
Dates: 6 weeks for 3 hours each week (Friday mornings 9.30am-12.30pm starting Friday 4th March 2022 until Friday 8th April 2022, subsequent six week block 29th April – 10th June (no lesson 3rd June Bank Holiday))
Cost: £180 (does not include cost of materials – see below)

This course is for those who have previously undertaken some upholstery training or worked on their own projects independently with additional upholstery teacher guidance and tuition. Students will bring their own project that they wish to work on. If you wish to finish this item within the six weeks, you can discuss with me in advance if I think that is achievable within the time available.
