Our values aren't just words on a wall. They shape how we work, how we treat people and how we recognise the team around us.

We've always celebrated a Champion of the Month internally, but we've evolved it to better reflect that. Rather than one champion, we now celebrate four people each month, one for each of our core values.

One of our first recipients is Kelsey Toner, winner of the People First Award.

Following works at a resident's home, feedback highlighted how Kelsey went above and beyond to support an autistic child. She took the time to give clear warnings before any loud works and helped create a safe, comfortable environment throughout the visit.

The resident described Kelsey as "an asset" and said they "couldn't be happier."

Great service isn't just about the work we complete. It's about the people we support and the care, empathy and respect we show along the way.

Congratulations Kelsey, and thank you for showing us what People First really means.

Reactive maintenance has become the norm across the housing sector. But when teams are constantly firefighting, there is little time left for prevention, resident engagement or long-term planning.

That is one of the key reasons why we founded Awaab's Council.

We created a national forum to help housing providers navigate Awaab's Law, stay compliant and, most importantly, create safer, healthier homes for residents before issues escalate.

Our Strategic Partnerships Manager, Chris Blackburn, recently sat down with Paul Smith from NHMF Frameworx for Housing Executive magazine to discuss why prevention is not about spending more money. It is about being organised differently.

The industry is changing. Awaab's Law has created urgency. But lasting change requires cultural shifts, proactive planning and a genuine commitment to residents.

Something has been missing from the way we talk about mould.

We've fixed the ventilation. We've upgraded the insulation. But again and again, we kept coming back to homes where mould was returnin, not because the systems weren't working, but because families couldn't afford to turn the heating on.

That's not a technical problem. That's poverty, and it needed a different kind of response.

So we built one.

Introducing CUREDD - the Charity for Underheated Residents and Energy by Dwelling Doctors. An independent registered charity, created by our team, to provide real, practical support to households living in fuel poverty.

Because no ventilation system in the world can beat mould in a home that's never warm.

This is the part of the problem we couldn't fix with tools. Now we can.

Social value is easy to talk about, harder to actually do.

A couple of weeks ago we shared a video showing what it looks like when you genuinely commit to it in housing and construction.

We've now put it all into writing. Our latest blog goes into what social value actually looks like in practice, including how we've already delivered over £154,000 in social value on our contract with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. That's 59% of the total target, with the contract only 25% complete.

Because for us, social value isn't something saved for the end of a project. It's something we build in from the very beginning.

We're also working to expand our impact even further through CUREDD, our new charity initiative. More updates on that coming very soon.

Your home could be holding litres of hidden moisture… every single day.

Drying clothes indoors. Showers. Cooking. Even breathing.
All of it adds moisture to the air.

If that moisture can’t escape through proper ventilation, it gets trapped.

That’s when condensation forms.
Then damp.
Then mould.

Most mould problems don’t start with damage - they start with everyday living and poor airflow.

Recently on The Diary of a CEO, Chris Williamson shares his experience living in a home with toxic mould.

And while every situation is different, it highlights something we see regularly:

Damp and mould in homes are strongly linked to respiratory issues and poor indoor air quality - and there’s growing conversation around wider health effects too.

But mould is usually just a symptom, NOT the root cause.

In most properties, it’s caused by excess moisture and poor ventilation.
So if you only clean it… it comes back.

At Dwelling Doctors, we fix the cause - not just the surface.

£154,000 of social value delivered... and the job’s not even halfway done.

On our contract with Rotherham Council, we’ve already reached 59% of our social value target… with only 25% of the work complete.

Because for us, it’s not just about fixing properties.

Social value means:
✔ Supporting local communities
✔ Creating jobs and training opportunities
✔ Making a real, measurable impact

And we’re just getting started.

We’re now expanding this even further with our new charity initiative, CUREDD.

At Dwelling Doctors, impact matters just as much as the work itself.

Under Awaab’s Law, it is not just about responding quickly. It is about responding correctly.

We often see damp and mould cases where action is taken, but the root cause is not identified. The result is repeat issues, increased pressure on teams, and growing risk.

Surface level fixes are no longer enough.

Our latest blog looks at why quick fixes continue to fail and why proper diagnosis is key to both compliance and long-term resolution.

Your home is producing up to 20 litres of water every single day. And no, that’s not a leak.

Showers.
Cooking.
Drying clothes.
Even breathing.

Everyday living fills the air with moisture. And when that moisture can’t escape, it settles on the coldest surfaces: windows, corners, external walls.

That’s where condensation turns into mould.

Most mould problems don’t start with rising damp.
They start with poor ventilation.

If your windows stream in the morning or your walls feel cold and damp, your home may already be holding excess moisture.

Prevention is always cheaper than repair.
