This coming Sunday, the 1st of February, the Moon will be full and Imbolc will mark the tentative start of early Springiness.

The February full moon is also known as the Budding News (Chinese), The Storm Moon (Old English), The Moon of Ice (Celtic), The Snow Moon (Neo Pagan), The Moon When The Trees Pop (Dakota & Sioux), The Bear Moon (Ojibwe) and the name I have picked to illustrate- The Goose Moon which is the name used by the Haida people.

Here the natural world is slowly waking up and the birds are singing their hearts out to welcome a tentative early Spring.

Happy Winter Solstice - Heuldro'r Gaeaf Hapus.

The sun sets at 3.03pm today and the reign of the Oak King starts. We head slowly but surely back to the sun- Starting with a few seconds a day and quickly building to an extra 2 minutes of daylight by mid January.

By Midsummer we will have a full 9 hours of extra daylight.

The October moon is fully full at 4.48am tomorrow morning and it promises to be a beautiful supermoon tonight.

Traditionally this would be called the Harvest Moon as it is the full moon closest to the autumn Equinox and it is also known as the Blood Moon, the Kindly Moon, the Travel Moon, The Shedding Moon and the Moon of the Changing Seasons.

I chose to illustrate 'The Moon of Falling Leaves' which is the name given by the Anishinaabe people. For 2026 I have illustrated the Celtic 'Seed Fall Moon'.

Mountain Shadows Full Moon.

Tonight the August full moon will be overhead and hopefully not obscured by clouds. For our 2025 calendar i illustrated the Tlingit tribes name - 'The Mountain Shadows Moon'. I was inspired by the lengthening shadows and the slowly darkening greens of August as the autumn starts to slowly creep its way in. And by a beautiful otter that decided to play in our harbour for a few weeks.

This full moon has many other names including 'Grain Moon' (European), 'Corn Moon' (Medieval English), 'Dispute Moon' (Celtic), 'Swan Flight Moon' (Inuit) and the 'Lynx Moon' (Celtic).

Always good to let go of the unnecessary past

Always good to let go of the unnecessary past

One of the quieter, unexpected gifts of midlife? You start to realise you don’t actually have to keep holding onto it all.

The clothes that never quite fit right.
The friendships that leave you feeling flat.
The old stories that keep you stuck in a version of yourself you’ve long outgrown.

At some point, it just clicks… you start filtering life differently. You begin asking β€” does this feel light? Does it bring energy? Does it feel like me?

And when the answer’s no? You don’t cling. You clear the space. You choose ease, and a little more freedom to be who you are now 🧑

Animals, with their unique presence and lack of verbal communication, provide me with much needed comfort and a soothing atmosphere, which are particularly helpful when l’m feeling overwhelmed by the demands and noise of human life. I’m so thankful for these peaceful souls. 🐾🀍
