My Son's tastes change with the wind. This month it's Marvel, next month it will be something else. My 100cm shelf is perfect for displaying his current interests without messing his walls up.

I get asked quite often if I can apply a coloured stain to my birch plywood products. Stains work quite well on the surface of the birch plywood as they really bring out the grain detail. However they don’t work so well on the layered edges, this is because each layer is positioned in a different direction to give the material strength and so the stain is absorbed differently across each layer. This leads to a patchy looking finish. What I would normally suggest is to mask off the edges and stain only the top and bottom surfaces, then apply a clear coat varnish over the whole shelf including the edges as shown in the picture. do get in touch if you would like a coloured stain applied to any of my products and I will be happy to help.
