Transforming this piece was worth every moment! I love bringing new life to existing furniture that could have been overlooked. The original piece was dark pine and now it has a rich, fresh look now perfectly suits my customer's style. 🖌✨

The finish you see first is the front, but the finish you feel is what really makes it special. 🤍

Every piece I create has the decoupage design carried onto the top edges and sides of the drawers, so the print flows seamlessly. It’s slow and fiddly, but totally worth it. I want each piece to feel thoughtfully finished from every angle.

I love adding that extra touch to my painted furniture with decoupage! I like to use acrylics to extend the image across the top of the drawers, so everything looks seamless.

The print doesn’t stop at the front, I paint the top edges to make it all flow together smoothly.

It’s small, careful work, but it makes such a difference in making a piece look truly finished. Can you tell where the paper ends and the paint begins? Drop your guesses below 👇

Think sticky drawers mean you have to get rid of your furniture?

Not at all.

Sticky drawers and small imperfections can almost always be fixed — and often improved.

As you can see here, these drawers don’t fit properly.
So I’m sanding back the sides slightly to give the wood the space it needs to move naturally.

Once that’s done, I’ll nourish the wood and apply a beautiful, strong, durable wax.

That not only protects the drawer, but helps it glide smoothly again.

So if your furniture is sticking, stiff, or just not working as it should, there’s no need to throw it away.

Find your local furniture painter — and if you’re in Harpenden, or the surrounding area, that’s me.

I’m Jacqui of Woz Designs, and I help make furniture work beautifully again.

These two little chest of drawers had good bones, but they needed a complete makeover.

Before I could add the new legs, I had to build a solid base to attach them to properly. It's one of those behind-the-scenes steps that nobody sees in the finished piece, but it makes all the difference to both the look and durability.

Once the prep work was done, I painted all the edges first to create a seamless finish before carefully applying the wallpaper. Every surface was transformed, inside and out, using decoupage techniques to give these drawers a completely new personality.

It's always the little details that take the most time, but they're also what elevate a piece from simply painted furniture to something truly special.
Which transformation stage do you find most satisfying to watch?
