The Rusland Movement is a group of dedicated craftsmen and designers, all of whom are based in Cumbria. Investing their heart and soul in all that they create, designing and making beautifully elegant, commissioned furniture, kitchens and other unique pieces for the home. With the Design Studio and Workshop under one roof, the designer of your commission is on hand to oversee every step of the con

struction process, almost all of which is done by hand. Whilst this may take more time, it ensures exceptional attention to detail and thus the remarkable work for which they have become renowned. Attention to detail applies not only to the approach to making your furniture, but also the mastering of the skills needed in its creation. All of this takes time, experience, devotion to the craft and the use of only the finest materials.

Meet the Hoad Tambour Sideboard

Crafted from European natural oak with rich fumed oak marquetry, this piece is one of our most labour-intensive creations made from over 860 individual components.

Each tambour slat is cut consecutively so that, when closed, the joins almost disappear. The result is a seamless surface where the marquetry leaves appear to drift effortlessly across the cabinet, like leaves caught in an autumn breeze.

It was a real pleasure working closely with our client to design a hall table tailored to sit effortlessly alongside their furniture and artwork.
