The fear of being steamrolled into choosing pieces for your interiors that you don’t like just because an interior designer has specified them is common.

I don’t think of myself as a dictator of taste. Rather, I consider myself the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’.

If I’ve suggested something, it’s because it’s a piece of the puzzle in your room. So what I’m really saying is, you need “something like this”, not “you need THIS”. The subtle difference means the autonomy of what ends up in your room lies entirely with YOU. It’s my job to explain that the painting in my design does the job of grounding the space between the ceiling and your sofa. It’s your job to say “I don’t like that one”.

Together we end up in a place that ‘works’ from a design perspective but that you feel ownership of and LOVE.

GREEN ROOM • This is a special space 💚

With the May Day celebrations behind us it is time to embrace the sunshine. This south facing reception room is filled with fabulous light off set with a soft emerald green.

Everything here is designed to bring the garden into the room. Enjoy the floral embroidery, the sumptuous shades of green and comfort while enjoying the view.

GREEN ROOM • Renovating a favoured family space is a rewarding process. The right shade of green was key to the freshness in this room. Despite being south facing, it was previously a little gloomy having bottle green walls and ceiling.

Decoration was a delicate process with centuries old ceiling and substantial preparation needed on the walls as we added wall lights and brighter more architectural pendants.

Hanging the homeowners extensive art collection - a blend of landscapes where the homeowners had previously lived with portraits of the ancestors sitting comfortably together. This was a tricky endeavour requiring the help of a laser.

Palette, comfort and a place for everyone all played their part in creating this favourite family space.

GREEN ROOM REVEAL • So this lovely light filled room was a bit dark and full of sofas that had been loved for three decades.

A fresh green palette with new lighting, re upholstered sofa and new furnishings has created a soft comfortable reception room to be equally loved for the next 30 years.

KITCHEN • Teal blue with lots of fresh neutrals for this tricky Georgian Manor House kitchen. Lots of doors, windows and a large opening into the breakfast room limits the layout.

The big kitchen improvement will be made by widening the chimney to allow the Aga to sit comfortably within the recess. Listed building consent is due on Monday so fingers crossed.

The fresh teal blue and white scheme with a linen Aga and pale quartz worktops and renovated oak floor will bring a bright energy to this heart of the home that hasn’t been touched in 30years…… very excited for this one.
