I’ve designed and created furniture for years. But in the background, behind the scenes was this desire to be a singer. It was a constant internal battle. However not so many years ago I came to the conclusion there are a lot of very very good writers, poets and singers out there!! But not so many designers and master craftsman. Fred back please. 🤣

Is that not a very beautiful chair? The Antilope Chair. This was my first chair that was inspired by the dynamics of a specific animal. The reality is that I was driving from Italy to Basel to visit friends and a saw one of those road warning signs depicting a leaping deer. I immediately had a two dimensional image in my head that at the first opportunity I put down on paper. I then had to discover how to turn it into 3D form and into a practical, ergonomic and structurally sound piece of furniture. This chair was the start of a whole new process. Dynamic form, structural integrity, ergonomic perfection and beauty. Personally I love the chair and think it’s pretty close to all the above.

Mama Mia!! What a magnificent tree. A wee message to all you woodworkers. Never forget where your wood comes from. Always respect. And yes I know it’s a horse chestnut and you can’t use the timber. Anyway. Just remember trees are beautiful creations of nature, of this planet. Try not to loose site of that. Then you can create beautiful things in their honour.
