From Unicorns to the Grand National 😊 what a weekend 🦄💫🏇

Yesterday we were raising a glass to a wee bit of magic for National Unicorn Day and today, we’re off to the races for the Grand National.

From mythical creatures to horsepower, we like to think the Highlands sits somewhere nicely in between. A place where legends exist, where legends are not just told, but where they are poured, slàinte to that!

Whether you’re backing a winner, picking a name you just like the sound of, or here for the banter, we’ll be cheering you on with a dram in hand 🥃🥂

No unicorns were spotted pulling the Wee Dram Van just yet...but give it time 🤩 we however caught a glimpse of a legend driving to an event near you!

Heres to a weekend of magic, mischief, and maybe a winning bet.

The clocks have sprung forward and so have we ⏰️ 🌿

There’s something about today, a little more light, a little more energy, and the feeling that the hills are slowly waking from their winter slumber.

Longer evenings are on the horizon, and with them come lighter serves, fresher flavours, and those moments best enjoyed outdoors with a drink in hand 🥂🥃

Maybe it’s a crisp, citrus led gin with a twist of lemon, or a pour of lighter whisky that still carries that warmth, just with a touch more spring in its step.

Either way rest assured brighter days are coming. And we’ll be ready ✨

We come with charm and a Dram on wheels 🚐

☘️ Happy St Patrick’s Day from the Wee Dram Van! ☘️

Today the world turns a little greener, the music gets louder, and the drams flow a little freer.

While Ireland celebrates its famous whiskey heritage today, here in the Highlands we can’t help but raise a glass to the shared Celtic love of “Uisge Beatha” the Water of Life.

And after that nail biting Six Nations finale, where Ireland lost out by the narrowest of margins, we think a dram is very much deserved. What a match, heart-stopping right to the final whistle! 🍀🏉

Whether it’s a smooth Irish whiskey or a Highland dram poured from the Wee Dram Van, it’s all about good company, great stories, and a wee bit of magic in the glass.

So wherever you are celebrating today in a cosy pub, around the kitchen table, or dreaming of the Highlands, we hope your glass is full and your spirits are high.

Slàinte agus Sláinte a h-uile duine 😊

🥃 Whisky lessons all round today 🥃

Today was a day for expanding my whisky knowledge. One of the things I love about working in Hospitality and running Wild Highland Drinks is that there is always something new to learn about the incredible drams across our wonderful homeland.

The word whisky itself as many of you know, comes from the Gaelic “Uisge Beatha,” meaning “water of life” and today that felt especially fitting as we talked about where that “water” actually comes from.

We started with some Ardbeg basics. The famous Islay distillery is known for its powerful, smoky whisky created using heavily peated barley.

What I found particularly interesting today was learning about its water source, Loch Uigeadail, which sits high above the distillery on Islay. The soft, peaty water flowing from the Loch plays its part in shaping the character of Ardbeg’s bold and complex spirit.

We also spent time delving further into Glenmorangie, which is quite a contrast in style and flavour. Glenmorangie draws its water from the Tarlogie Springs, located just across the road from the Distillery. The springs filter slowly through layers of limestone and sandstone for many years, creating beautifully pure, mineral rich water that helps give Glenmorangie its signature smooth, elegant and fruity character.

It’s amazing how much the land and water influence the whisky in the glass, from the peaty Lochs of Islay to the ancient springs of Tarlogie 🤩

A great reminder that there is always more to discover in the world of whisky.

Slàinte! 🥃

This week took me down to Edinburgh for work. I was at the Corney & Barrow trade wine tasting, held in the stunning surroundings of Surgeons’ Hall on Monday. An incredible day of tasting, learning, and meeting so many passionate people from the wine world!

It worked in so well as we had a gig coming up, so decided to make a wee trip of it, staying on for two nights at the beautiful Dalmahoy Country Club & Hotel. The perfect spot to unwind.

Last night was an absolute treat from start to finish…Dinner at Bucks Bar, where we both enjoyed the legendary gravy Train Burger with sweet tattie fries, followed by a deliciously cheeky Cherry Sour cocktail 🙈 dangerously moreish 🍒✨ as were the Pink Gins and lemonade 😋

Then it was off to the Barrowlands for a fantastic night seeing the Kaiser Chiefs. Their support act, Corella, were brilliant too. Such an atmosphere!!!

We finished it all off with a stay at the Dunblane Hydro, rounding a trip full of tasy food, delicious beverages, wonderful venues, and unforgettable moments.

A perfect reminder of how lucky we are to experience so much beauty, flavour, and music right here in Alba gu Brath. 💙

🧪⚡ A Cocktail Creation in our Capitals Frankenstein Pub… ⚡🧪

We recently ventured into the wonderfully eerie and iconic Frankenstein Pub in Edinburgh, honestly, it was an experience like no other.

The atmosphere is pure gothic drama, but the cocktails…WOW🍸✨

I tried the Smoky Hyde, described on the menu as a “bubbly potion with a split personality” starting with "the red taste of elderflower gin and cranberry, before transforming into the green melon magic of Midori."

A drink that changes as you sip… mesmerising, theatrical, and completely unforgettable...you’ll see exactly what we mean in the video 👀

It’s always inspiring to see cocktail creativity like this and it reminds us why we love what we do with Wild Highland Drinks too. Whether it’s a gothic potion in Edinburgh or a Highland inspired serve from the Dram Van it’s all about creating those magical moments in a glass.

Edinburgh has surprises up its sleeve… and the Highlands do too 🦌🥂

Have you been to Frankenstein Pub?
Or do you have a favourite cocktail haunt?

✨ Happy New Year from us at WHD🥂✨️
I wrapped up 2025 with a bit of a bug 🤧 and, rather rudely it followed me into 2026 fortunately it’s 99% gone now 🙌

Fingers crossed none of you were struck down with any festive beasties ❌

We toyed with the idea of heading abroad for some time away, but instead decided on a staycation 😊 it’s reminded us just how much of Scotland we still haven’t explored 💙

We've visited the V&A in Dundee, we also learned about the Dundee whale yesterday, something we somehow never knew about 🐋

Yesterday took us wandering through the beautiful streets of St Andrews, the weather has been grand, aye its cold but the sun is shining ☀️

Here's to 2026, and more adventures!

✨️Good Evening one and all ✨️

I hope you are all as excited as we are for tomorrow night's Ladies Night at Simpsons

We sure can't wait to come back, absolutely delighted to be returning for another year 😊

It's a double whammy as Simpsons are celebrating their 25th Anniversary, so when I got asked to design a bespoke cocktail for you all, I was both delighted and proud to be asked to do this.

I present to you the 🌸 *Silver Bloom*🌸

I have designed this cocktail around the Original Rock Rose Gin due to its floral fragrance and notes to represent the garden centre. We have added in some silver glitter to celebrate 25 years 🎉
Wow what an achievement 👏

The Silver Bloom contains some lavender, blueberry and vanilla notes and has a light and fresh bubble thanks to a finish of elderflower presse.

Also on the menu tomorrow are the following 😋
🌸Passion Fruit Martini aka the Pornstar
🌸Andrew's delicious Bramble
🌸Strawberry or Passionfruit Belini
🌸Bubbly Prosecco

🏵Mocktails will also be available

See you all tomorrow 😁

🍷its International Merlot Day 🍷

Our friend Baz knows exactly what he’d choose… 🦊🍇A smooth, velvety Merlot, rich, round, and full of Highland warmth. Perfect for slow evenings by the fire and stories that linger long after the last sip.

If you’re looking to raise a glass, pop into The Carnegie Whisky Cellars and/or Dornoch Stores, both are stocked with some cracking reds and a few hidden gems Baz would definitely approve of including some delish white port - Martha's port from The Port of Leith Distillery

Here’s to good grapes, good company, and a wee splash of mischief.
Slàinte mhath! 🥂
