Water Based Paints: Just a few notes, a little more expensive but worth it, saves money on brush cleaner and restorer, brushes last so much longer, so easy to clean. Saves money on mini rollers and paint trays as they can also be washed spotlessly clean. The finish is just as good as oil based paints although not quite as durable but with the drying time so short it's not such a chore to touch up or repaint, no strong smell that lingers for days and doesn't discolour. The brilliant white is truly white and stays white. Touch dry within an hour or two, although this does mean you need to work faster or do all your brush detail, let it dry then use your roller on the larger areas. Not so many runs but when you do my tip would be not to try brushing it out, wait for the paint to dry sand it out then touch up. We all find change challenging but I have to say I am really impressed with the water based products I have been using, they've come a long way, so many great advantages.

Well it's been some time since posting finished works, Sadly both my shoulders have decided not to work too much and the punishment for doing so is excruciating pain. It appears I have calcification of the shoulder, managed to get the left one sorted with a little procedure but it didn't work on the right so i have to wait for an op'. In the meantime, I have manged to do a couple of items, a large pine wall mounted bookcase and a purpose built pine kitchen bar/shoe rack. lots of sanding to get rid of the orange stain and old varnish, shelves are stained and varnished and the rest painted "Little Green Co" China Blue. The paint is a water based satin finish.

Before and after photos'. Just finished this lovely oak coffee table for a lovely couple, the table had been made for them from a fallen oak tree on their own land along with another which I am also refurbishing. Seen some hard use with children and grand children but being beautiful solid english oak it has coped with it all. Taking off all the old varnish and stain we agreed that the oak grain should not be hidden with stain. It needed a durable finish so to give a lovely soft sheen with plenty of durability it has been finished with a satin bar top varnish.

Have'nt been able to get into my workshop as much as I would like recently and when I have I've been working on some projects for me. Just finished renovating a wrought iron and wood bench. Probably able to buy a new one for the same as it cost but I certainly wouldn't be able to buy it like this. The Iron work is painted in Hammerite, Wild Thyme and the wood has been treated with a wood preserver and then stained with a combination of colours, finished with Osmo Wax Oil with UV protection.

At long last I have managed to get some time in my workshop and finished the large pine table. Really pleased with the end result. the whole table had to be stripped back to the raw wood, the legs have been painted in a satin "strong white", a pewter "bird cage" handle on the little end draw. The table top has been stained in a combination of colours to give a driftwood, worn look and then finished with a satin Osmo Polyx Wax Oil which gives a soft sheen and protection against drips and spills. For sale £185.00 or best offer.
