Dave Shade Ltd PVC & Canvas bespoke cover manufacturer, Classic car seat restoration, Upholsterer. I have a real passion for making old look new again.

I have been involved in the tarpaulin trade for over 30 years and last 2 years delved into auto upholstery. I am proper OCD, I am not the quickest out there but my attention to detail is worth waiting for. I have just recently acquired my new premises having worked from home the last 13 years. Currently my business works on a par time basis but my future plans are to have this as my retirement venture.

Really enjoyed doing this, the customer was over the moon, makes it even more rewarding. Little VW Caddy van, all kitted out and I was so pleased to finish it off with some bespoke cushions made to measure. As you can see from the pics sit down seating arrangement into a stay over bed.

This year's diary so far.

2026 has started off really well, I've undertaken more training in the upholstery field, wrapping Steering wheels, Upholstering door cards and roof liners, touched on patterning and covering dashboards, although I found that quite challenging.

I've proper settled into my workshop and added some new sewing machines into the mix to allow me to work on different fabrics.

I feel really comfortable there and I'm very fortunate to have such great people around supporting me.

I'm now 2.5 yrs into my upholstery venture but I've been in the Tarpaulin trade since I was 21 yrs old so quite a few crossovers, so well over 35 yrs 😃 wow that's scary. Started as an apprentice with Telford Tarpaulins.

Really enjoying the last 8 weeks or so where I've been dropping onto Caravan/Camper seating and bespoke covers for garden furniture.

I do love a long term project though in the way of restoring seats back to their original glory and overcoming a problem a customer may have, where a modification may be needed, like reducing the height of a motorbike seat or changing the appearance/design of a seat.

I have added a little bit of leather restoration too, into the mix and again very lucky to know the right people and received the very best of training.

But to finish off by saying this.

You guys and girls, those that have used my services, your support, your likes and shares, your input, your understanding, your ideas, my new followers, your recommendations, I see them all trust me, all this contributes to developing my little business and for that I am truly grateful.

I've missed a few messages as of late and if you're one of those I do apologise.

Anyone that knows me would tell you that's not my style, so just a few pointers to avoid any misunderstanding and disappointment

Try to drop me a message through either WhatsApp or Messenger, email last resort if you have no other option

Phone calls are hit and miss depending on where I am, as the upholstery business is not my main job as I am employed full time elsewhere, so if I don't answer leave a message.

Daveshade is my retirement plan, but currently working a few hours a day and weekends while I establish myself.

The customer was over the moon with these water proof covers. They allow her to leave all the cushions on without having to pack them away. On the underside of the cover is the main seat and a foot stool all hidden from the elements.

This material is real heavy duty and fused with a High frequency welder

Just a polite notice.

As from today there will be no exceptions. I will once you have confirmed your order with me, make a request for a 50% deposit before placing any orders on materials, the rest payable on completion.

I'm a LTD company and my accounts are there for all to see. You will note Daveshade doesn't make so much, so when any funds leave my account I can get left exposed to funding issues, enough said on the matter.
