From the Square in Tarland, follow the road past the Commercial Hotel (with the Crafty Neuk on the left) for 0.7miles, you will then take a

sharp left turn over a small bridge. Follow the road for a further 0.4mile till you reach a fork in the road signed West Davoch, take the right hand fork heading up hill. Follow this road for 0.8miles, you will see a sign for West Davoch & Middle Davoch , carry on straight past this sign & also the drive for Easter Davoch House on the right. The road then turns sharp right, you will see a small bothy on the right & the driveway for the workshop is immediately after the bothy, you will see a mill wheel on the side of the workshop, just before the entrance.

Weaving traditional Ikat fabric, it was fascinating to watch, particularly the foot action. The silk warp is tie dyed first, then cotton ( but sometimes silk) is used for the warp. 1m of fabric takes 4 hours to weave, not including the preparation time. The cotton warp is used wet to ensure a very tight weave. So beautiful 😍

How sweet are these lampshades? I had some small remnants of this gorgeous Poppinjay linen and managed to eak it out into two shades. Finished with a pale gold fringe from and braid from which compliment the fabric perfectly and lined in a silk satin.

They were destined for , but one has been snapped up already, and the other just looks so perfect in my hallway, I don't think I can part with it, sorry Catriona.

After many happy years of upholstering treasured furniture for the good folks of Aberdeenshire, it's time for me to hang up my hammer.

I tried going part-time 2 years ago, but as a self-employed sole trader with a constant stream of enquiries, that hasn't worked out how I had hoped. The work-life balance is still tipped too far down on the work side, so the big decision has been made.

I'll still be around for a while, I have worked scheduled through into the autumn, and I will honour those bookings, but I won't be taking on any new commissions beyond that.

Thank you to all of my wonderful clients for trusting me with your furniture x

❤️

I just love how this dainty sofa has transformed from a dull, wobbly, sad little thing into an elegant functional thing of beauty. Huge thanks to for rebuilding the frame and for creating the glorious fabric, a sumptuous soft velvet, and for the perfect trim.

I'll be taking it along to on Friday, where it will be available for sale. Is it wrong to hope it doesn't sell and I have to find a space for it at home??

This dainty little sofa is all ready in her un**es, waiting for her snazzy new outfit next week
