I have lots of items of furniture for sale, several unusual vintage. I had a trouser press for ages but apart from playing " what am I " at vintage fairs, there was no interest. But someone else saw what I didn't. They cleverly married 2 of my pieces up in their mind, using the trouser press on top of a sewing machine treadle base.

Thrilled with this combination, just the colour I was trying to match with the material, Annie Sloan blue on a pine chemistry stool, but made deeper and darker with dark wax which I had previously only used on dark wood.

Second stool is covered in a piece of fabric I've been dying to use for 2 years since I got it. Bright, stripy velvet. And if you want a pair, I can replicate it. This time I've sanded the stool, then oiled it with boiled linseed oil- the stuff they use on cricket bats as I didn't want it to be too dark.

First stool from Durham University is
finished. wool shop has these amazing tapestry look panels that are ideal for a stool top. Recognise the character?
The stool itself I have left to tell it's own tale, it has scars, wear and tear and even a "tattoo", a bit like the person himself.
