Custom Ash and Oak console table! ✨

Let's take a closer look at this beauty, handmade and designed especially for the new Millington Art Gallery in Hexham! 😁

This piece displaying thick Ash and Oak construction, with a top full of grain character! The drawer fronts have a unique design showing off the contrasting timber colours, with the hand selected Oak through the middle showing off it's circular and rippled grains! All topped off with HAND cut drawer joinery with saw and chisel. 🔥

This was my first time experimenting with angled legs such as this, and I was designing it in real time as I went! I thoroughly enjoyed this build and love that it was for the Art Gallery to hopefully go to its new forever home!✨

The Millington Art Gallery in Hexham OPENS SATURDAY!!🎉

I visited again yesterday mainly to drop off this beautiful custom solid Ash and Oak console table with hand cut drawers! Seeing fantastic progression in the shop as Hazel and Mark get ready to open!

Some of these displays and set ups with Hazels stunning paintings and other artists is just a dream. I'm so grateful to be apart of this! 🙌🏼✨

While developing a new piece of furniture (designing as I go!) seen in the first photo, it will have a pair of drawers in the gap, with beautiful angled legs...

Upon taking it apart, I realised the simple beauty of the single decorative plank with wood legs! Please let me know what you think of the accidental design! 🙏🏼😍

Note: it's not sanded, finished, or a complete product in the photo! A finished version OF COURSE wouldn't have screws in the top... 👍🏼

WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY 🙌🏼🎉

Today I visited my newest venture of DSawford Woodworks... A brand new Art Gallery opening in Hexham!! I am over the moon to share this photo of meeting everyone and dropping off the first batch of goods to be for sale in store! 😄 The grand opening is end of March 🎉

Some of the story so far behind this:

When I was at the November Christmas market, 2 wonderful people approached me who absolutely loved my products quality and designs, they ended up buying 3 boards!!! Well that wasn't all they were at the market for.. they were looking for handmade high quality goods to potentially pass on to their family members opening the art store! 🤩

After being passed their info, we got along so well in our initial video call it ended up being 2 hours of excitement! Well after a few months of Hazel and Mark getting their new gallery ready and me building a mixture of boards, home decor and furniture... We finally got to visit to drop off our first batch of items and meet everyone! Grand opening date to be end of March! ...So I have some more building to do... 😎

I am very much looking forward to this incredible new venture with fantastic people, a fresh new gallery, in the wonderful town of Hexham! 🙏🏼

White Oak with Stripe chopping board✨

On its way to its new home, this beauty looked incredible on the sun ☀️ European White Oak with a combination of Paduak, Ask and Wenge stripe!🙌🏼

Some wood trivia for you! The cheaper variant of Oak: American RED oak, is actually not food safe for chopping boards... However European WHITE oak IS food safe and great for chopping boards! For any clever clogs out there... 😎

I've actually never used anything other than highest grade European and English White Oak here at DSawford Woodworks 🔥
