POND CLEARED AND DESILTED
Our latest project was to clear a pond of reeds, trees, shrubs and silt near Ashen, Suffolk.
The pond had been left to overgrow for some years and was hardly visible.
On arrival the first task was to cut back trees, shrubs and brambles, using a long reach hedge cutter and chainsaws.
We then had a 5 ton excavator and a 3 ton dumper transported to site.
From the bank of the pond Richard and the team began excavating the reeds and silt from the pond and loading into the dumper.
The dumper then tipped the silt and debris into the designated area.
Once we had cleared an area large enough, the excavator entered the pond.
With the excavator now on the bottom of the pond it was able to dredge the whole pond.
All silt and debris was loaded into the dumper and tipped into the designated area.
The team then tidied up the pond banks and the excavator and dumper was collected.
The site was then left in as clean and tidy a condition as possible.

FLOOD RESISTANCE WORK.

A ditch needed to be cleared and a retaining wall was to be erected. The work was required to provide flood resistance to the customers property in mid Suffolk.
The project began with the cutting of trees and clearing of brambles and scrub. An 8 ton excavator and a specialised attachment for installing the oak sleeper retaining wall was delivered to site. It was then possible to clear the ditch using an 8 ton excavator.
The large culvert was then cleared and once again water was able to flow.
One hundred plus oak sleepers were then transported to site with ironmongery to install the sleepers.
A specially made attachment was then fitted to the excavator to knock oak posts into place. The posts formed the framework for the retaining wall.
The oak retaining wall could now be constructed. To create the wall the team drilled and bolted oak sleepers to the upright oak posts.
Once the oak retaining wall was fitted we installed a waterproof membrane behind the wall and then backfilled the bank to give it stability. The area was then cleared and the plant was collected.
The site was then left in as clean and tidy a condition as possible.

RESTORED BASIN IN HAVERHILL
This restoration was required to prevent a reoccurrence of flooding to nearby properties and roads.
A balancing pond ( basin ) was totally overgrown with trees, bushes and brambles.
Initially we began by felling the trees which were in the centre of the pond. We logged the larger trunks. Smaller branches were put through our mechanical chipper, which were going to be spread on the pathways when they were finished.
Using the services of both Emmitt Plant and Mervyn Lambert Plant, we had two 14 ton excavators and a mechanical flail transported to site.
As the brambles and bushes were matted into the overgrown grass on the banks, hedge cutter's and strimmer's could not cut through.
We overcame the problem by using a mechanical flail attached to a 14 ton excavator to clear the whole area.
Rubbish and litter was also collected and disposed of.
An overgrown culvert was then cleared and once again usable.
Tree roots had to be excavated from the pond bottom using a 14 ton excavator and then disposed of.
The pond bottom was then de-silted and totally cleared keeping the good soil for the creation of the bank.
Using both 14 ton excavators and soil from the pond the banks were built up, graded and reshaped ready for grass seeding.
All of the footpaths had to be cleared. This was achieved by using the excavator to scrap off the grass and soil until we got back to the original base.
Trees and bushes were faced back to make the footpaths wider.
Our hired in plant was then collected and the site was left in as clean and tidy a condition as possible

RETENTION POND AT STOWMARKET G.C.
Back on the excavator for this project.
A stop/start project due to the inclement weather, was finally back on track.
A retention pond was created between the thirteenth tee and the fourteenth green.
The first task was to mark out the area for the pond.
We then excavated the soil and dispersed it as instructed amongst the trees.
This was achieved by loading the dumper with the excavator and tipping around the tree area.
The retention pond levels were set using a laser level.
The banks were then graded and a key trench was excavated all around the circumference of the pond.
We then supplied and installed an underlay and E.P.D.M liner which was secured in the key trench.
The key trench was then backfilled and filling of the pond commenced by pumping the pond with water from the golf club irrigation system.
Topsoil was spread and levelled.

LARGE GARDEN POND FULL RESTORATION
The team started work by clearing the pond and surrounding area of vegetation.
Once the area was cleared, the pond was drained and the silt and debris cleaned out.
The waterfall was dismantled and cleaned ready for re-installation.
The next task was to remove and dispose of the old liner.
The pond was then prepared for the new underlay and new E.P.D.M liner.
A new underlay and liner was supplied and installed.
The waterfall was then re-instated and large ornamental rocks were moved from the front drive and positioned around the pond edge for decoration and to secure the liner.
The pond was refilled and some plants were reintroduced.
The area was left in as clean and tidy a condition as possible.
The customer was thrilled with the end result and wished to carry out the finishing touches with more planting and ornamental rocks, ready for her garden open day.

A SMALLER PROJECT IN TATTINGSTONE
A fish pond with a leaking liner became a priority.
The fish were placed into a holding tank and the pond was drained.
The team removed and disposed of the old liner and installed a new underlay and E.P.D.M liner.
They secured the liner with a timber edging as the customer preferred it to coping stones and refilled the pond and the fish were returned to the pond.

THE RAYLEIGH CLUB
Our latest project
To increase water storage on the golf course whilst increasing the already picturesque beauty of the golf course.
After consultation between Richard, the team, Jack (owner/manager)and Roy (head greenkeeper) a new large lake was to be excavated and then combined with a smaller existing lake and a smaller existing pond to create a much larger lake.
The first phase was to cut down trees, excavate the roots and clear vegetation from the new area as well as from around the existing lake and pond.
A new pathway was created for golfers and buggies.
Excavation of the new lake could now commence.
Using the excavated clay and top soil a bank was created.
The bottom was then levelled and the banks were graded. A safety shelf was also created.
The water was then pumped from the existing lake into the new lake.
The next phase was to build a bund to contain the tons of silt which was then dredged from the existing lake using a 22.5 ton / 15 metre long reach excavator on the bank and a standard excavator in the bottom of the lake.
Two 9 ton dumpers were loaded constantly to tip the silt into the bund.
After many days and man hours of dredging the lake was cleared of silt.
The bank between the original lake and the new lake was then excavated to unite the lakes and allow the water to form one lake.
The small pond was then drained and dredged and when cleared and the bank was excavated to unite the two lakes and the pond creating the large finished lake.
A bunker was infilled, the area top soiled and grass seed sown.
The machinery was cleared from the area and the finishing touches were carried out to leave the golf course in a perfect condition for top soiling and grass seed.
Owners Jack & Maddison were very happy with the standards and professionalism of the project.
Several golfers also commented on the high quality of our work.

POND INSTALLED IN TATTINGSTONE
A new preformed pond was installed at a primary school in Tattingstone.
An area inside the school grounds was selected to site the new pond.
The pond was installed with an oak sleeper surround.
The first level of oak sleepers were secured in the ground, with a second level bolted to them.
The preformed pond was then placed in position and secured by bolting a further layer of oak sleepers over the lip of the pond.
The surrounding area then had a new picket fence installed by our team to ensure the area was safe for the pupils.
The pond was then filled and the area was left in a clean and tidy condition.
