After a great deal of thought, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to close the business over the next couple of months.
The last three years have been some of the toughest I have ever faced. Despite being extremely busy and having the support of so many fantastic customers, the reality is that the business is no longer financially viable. With increasing costs, high tax burdens, and constant pressure on small businesses, we have reached a point where we cannot even take a modest wage, let alone make a profit.
I have worked an average of 60-hour weeks and given everything I possibly can, but I simply cannot work any harder.
This decision has been heartbreaking. Most people who know me know how passionate I am about cars and the motor trade. My dream was to build something special alongside my son and my dad – a family business we could all be proud of. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t work out the way we hope, and it just wasn’t meant to be.
I want to take this opportunity to thank every single customer who has trusted us with their vehicles and supported us along the way. Your loyalty, recommendations, and friendship have meant more than you will ever know.
We wanted to give our valued customers plenty of notice, so if there is any work you would like us to carry out before we close our doors, please get booked in as soon as possible. Even if you don’t need anything doing, it would be wonderful to see you one last time, so if you’re passing by, please pop in and say hello.
Finally, I would like to say how incredibly proud we are of Tom, who has secured an amazing opportunity and will soon complete his apprenticeship. It has been an honour to support him at the start of his career, and we know he has a very bright future ahead of him.
Thank you all for being part of our journey. We will always be grateful for your support. Final closing date tbc

We have been accused of breeding Jaguar cars this week at DMG Services. We’ve had a few Jaaaaaaaaag’s in for various jobs. Ranging from fueling issues, to MOT’s, leaky transmission cooler pipes, air suspension issues and general servicing. I’ve been getting to grips with the Lotus and stripping and cleaning the twin DCOE Webers, which are a thing of beauty. Jeff’s Moggie is getting closer to being completed and the interior is coming together nicely, acoustic layers applied to the floor pan then carpet over the top. The front seats will be in soon. The XJS has had its leather seats revived by AW Revive ltd and look better than new. This vehicle has come in for an MOT and some light restoration work. New front shock absorbers and brakes all round. Some fantastic work going on at the moment and Tom has been Tigging of course. It’s gotten very warm towards the end of the week and it’s going to be hotter next week. I might put my shorts on. Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Getting through the work at DMG Services this week. We have been busy and starting to get some of our long term jobs done. Had the lovely red XJS return for some work which is a V12, 5.3 convertible model. A stunning car and a real beauty in the sun. Jeff’s Moggie is going back together nicely and having extensive upgrades on the wiring and to the ancillary components. We had a mk4 Golf in for a clutch that turned into a gearbox that was difficult to find a replacement for, I ended up swapping the driveshaft flanges on the replacement gearbox which is something I haven’t had to do in a long time. Lots of time spent sorting that out and getting the job done. The lovely Lotus Excel is awaiting an MOT next week and will soon be up for sale. Tom has been busy on some bodywork and spent the last weekend in the Tyrell shed at Goodwood with the Heritage Skills Academy, giving English wheeling and shaping demonstrations to the visitors, he said it was a great weekend with some lovely cars on display. Loafette is getting finished off and buttoned up ready to return to the owner, the inner rear wing on the offside is now fully welded. Feeling very accomplished and getting on top of the work. Enjoying the sunshine in between the showers. Have a great weekend.

What a lovely week weather wise, it’s felt like summer. It’s been super dry and even found a dry joint on an alarm fob that was stopping a car from starting. Sorted out a few air suspension issues on a nice old Jag. Had the moggy back from the Paintshop and started working on that. You could say it’s been a pain in the glass fitting the windows and new seals but I won’t. The Clio Williams is now completed and sitting on its purpose made trolley thanks to Katie Harris for that one so it can be taken to the Bodyshop and returned to the customer. Sorted out a wonky transporter with a broken spring and managed to source some Bilstein replacements. XJ6 coolant issues being investigated as water is getting into the fuel. Inlet Manifold needs to be removed but it’s stuck on. What a busy week.

What a week, it’s been warm, windy and very busy. We’ve focused on getting one or two big jobs completed and been busy in between on other stuff. The pictures paint the best image of what’s been going on but we have been busy over the past week. Lots of big jobs in and other jobs in between. A clutch on a VW golf, electric vehicle servicing, turbo replacements, coolant issues and MOT repairs. Just because your vehicle is MOT exempt doesn’t mean you can’t get a safety check. The exact same process as an MOT but this helps identify any issues that may go unnoticed on a service or routine maintenance tasks. A good idea if you are running a Tax and MOT exempt vehicle. XJ6 Jaguar in for some coolant issues where the water is mixing in with the fuel and a rare example of a Fiat X19 in for a coolant issue. We were able to replace the radiator core that was leaking and found a few oil leaks along the way. Coolant leaks on a VW polo and you can see a pattern occurring here. The Clio is closer to closer to completion and nearly ready to return to the customer. Campervan coil spring replacement as one had broken and as you know, you always replace in pairs!
Electric Movano e in for a service and MOT but if I’ve missed anything off I’m not surprised as it has been a busy week. Closed for Bank holiday weekend and back in on Tuesday. Enjoy the sunshine

It’s been a bright week and beautiful weather, I’ve spent the week in a polo shirt it’s been that warm. Tom has been at Brooklands all week and was working on a very rare Arrol Asta, making mudguards on the English wheel on his Heritage Skills Academy program. He is past halfway now in his final 3rd year, working toward his end point assessment. This time has gone so quickly. We started the week with a service on a giant motorhome that filled the yard (I forgot to take a picture). We’ve been busy servicing and replacing parts this week. Drop links, suspension, steering racks, clutches, brakes and tyres. It has been busy but I’ve had my Dad helping me. Enjoy the sunshine and have a great weekend.

This is Tom in his happy place at the Heritage Skills Academy workshop, next door to Barnes Wallace’s workshop and at the heart of the original Brooklands racetrack in Surrey. What a place to learn. He is about 2 minutes in to the video. Looking good

Between the sunshine and the showers we have had another busy week at the DMG workshop. Servicing work and MOT repairs it has not stopped. Electrical faults, mechanical faults, coolant issues, brakes, handbrakes and that’s just the mechanical side. Tom has made some great progress on the Clio Williams that we have in and both new rear quarter panels are now on. We Fitted Apple car play into a Fiesta and found a few issues on a Golf we had in. I’ve got an underside treatment in today on a Discovery and will post a reel about that next week. Have a great weekend and hope it stays sunny.
