PFP is not cosy. You don’t get a badge or a balloon if you subscribe. You get hardcore updates of how we helped the lives of people starving, woefully uncared for, suicidal and people considering s*x work to make ends meet. There’s domestic violence and many times over.. the terribly inadequate services in place that is supposed to be done by people we call the politicians.
I do know how to make a numbers friendly ‘nobody gets upset’ page. I could stay in my lane and organise jumble sales or cake bakes. But I’m trying to do something different here. Because I believe that unless we get serious about what’s really going on, and take ownership of the choices we make, if we allow prejudice to permeate our community.. we aren’t any sort of community.
I’ll say it again. PFP IS POLITICS. It’s a failure of politics that birthed us. So stop asking me to keep politics out of it. If we support the elderly, food banks, schools, Lister hospital, and nurses.. we are allowed to demand why we have to. So many terrific people in our working class communities still feel that politics should only be done by people in suits from totally different backgrounds to us who know nothing of how we live and what we need. So to remind you, I went to your school, grew up in your houses on your estates, drive your kind of car and have the hopes and aspirations for my kids as you do. The poison in our society, is that we don’t think we have the power to comment on it. Well.. we do. And we will. We don’t want to passively scratch the itch, this group wants the cure. So yep.. a bumpy ride it is.
